Naitonalized Healthcare...

Furnishedowner,

I have to commend you… if that is indeed what happened, you expended more time and effort to that nurse you didn’t know than any of your “friends” you’ve posted on here… so good job on the personal growth…

It is a bit strange that the police, who were already there, did not call for an ambulance for someone who was 4X over the legal limit, and they just left her in your hands… The police are actually LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE for this, and at 4x the legal limit, she must have been unresponsive, so how did you even get permission to assume this legal responsibility???

What is even stranger to me is how you had one tenant dealing with a dog being shot, and the mess that made, the police there, Internal Affairs on the scene, a person who is 4x over the legal limit passed out “dead drunk”, which means she had to be non-responsive, and neither the police NOR internal affairs called for an ambulance??? Hmmm… one thing for the police to not follow procedure, but internal affairs, too??? very odd to say the least…

In any case, enjoy your vacation… when you return, I am interested in hearing about your take on Roswell, and whether or not your contacts for DISCLOSURE flaked out in the spring or backed-up what they told you…

PosOutlook,
This is the second dead drunk episode we have encountered. The police officer (who wouldn’t let me in at first) said, “She’s awake and she’s talking.”

That appeared to be their signal to go. The nurse then got out of bed, changed her clothes and let me drive her to ER, after talking to her and the boyfriend via telephone. Blood alcohol 380 they said in ER. Had drunk 1/2 bottle vodka that day. Didn’t get cleared out of ER for 24 hours to go to the Mental Health Unit. I had no idea that tolerances could be that great, the last one was drunker.

I think Internal Affairs came because of the shot fired. By the way, I don’t make up any stories if that is what you thought. It was just a pretty overwhelming week. An unusual week.

Furnished,

An insight into government care and “saving” people money… Wendy Button has written for John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Barack Obama, and Mayor Tom Menino of Boston as well as other national and international leaders, and is working on a book.

Health Care Speechwriter for Edwards, Obama & Clinton Without Insurance Now, Politics Daily

http://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/10/08/health-care-speechwriter-for-edwards-obama-and-clinton-doesnt/?icid=main|hp-desktop|dl1|link7|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.politicsdaily.com%2F2009%2F10%2F08%2Fhealth-care-speechwriter-for-edwards-obama-and-clinton-doesnt%2F

From the article - “As a self-employed writer, my premium was $225 a month, plus $10 for a dental discount. In Massachusetts, the cost for a similar plan is around $550, give or take a few dollars.”

“Even if the economy was strong and I was working more, I still couldn’t afford my premium.”

“As luck would have it, I didn’t schedule a physical before I left D.C. I thought I could get that taken care of when I moved – after all they had reforms, automatic enrollment, and universal coverage in Massachusetts, all the things I’d written about for politicians. Health care would be affordable. It didn’t dawn on me that it would just be affordable for other people.”

"While the state has the lowest rate of uninsured, a report by the Commonwealth Fund states that Massachusetts has the highest premiums in the country. "

“What makes this a double blow is that my experience contradicts so much of what I wrote for political leaders over the last decade. That’s a terrible feeling, too. I typed line after line that said everything Massachusetts did would make health insurance more affordable. If I had a dollar for every time I typed, “universal coverage will lower premiums,” I could pay for my own health care at Massachusetts’s rates.”

Trying to simplify this debate over having a government option for health care…

Why would you want the government running health care? Because the insurance companies are not providing health care, they are just middle-men. Extremely high-paid middle-men.

I just heard that the CEO of United HealthCare (our family’s option) had a salary of 100 MILLION $$!
Is that an obscenity or what?!

So the insurance companies collect insurance payments, take about 30% of the top for their expenses, gross profits, and inflated self-voted salaries.

I would rather have the government contracting in my behalf for health care. At least the government executives are paid at their GSA levels, not ludicrous compensation. If they do a bad job, we can vote them out
or vote out the administration that is responsible.

We will have a lot more say in our care if the government is running it. Can you call your Congressman now and complain if your child was refused a high-priced treatment by a health insurance company? There will be someone to listen if the government is involved.

It won’t be perfect. But millions of folks are now covered by Medicare, MediCal, and the VA and they get treated. Let’s stop screaming about big government and let the government work for us. And for our health care. Just like the rest of the civilized world is doing.

Furnishedowner

Its UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Or… is that not a good enough reason?

Furnishedowner,

“At least the government executives are paid at their GSA levels, not ludicrous compensation. If they do a bad job, we can vote them out or vote out the administration that is responsible.”

You mean like the ones who are responsible for $5-$600 BILLION in “waste, fraud and abuse”??? Yeah, that’s worked out REAL well… are you THAT naive?

Funny thing is… the people in government are NOT using a government run program… they are using PRIVATE INSURANCE… and the DEM’s voted down a Rep ammenment that would REQUIRE that they use the same program… that’s all you need to know…

Add to it that Massachussetts IS what you now want, the lowest level of uninsured, automatic enrollment, etc. but it has the HIGHEST premiums in the nation…

And yet you somehow think that this will be different on a national level… WITHOUT the 30 Million uninsured, the government is WASTING $5-$600 BILLION PER YEAR in “waste, fraud and abuse” in their exisiting programs…

“Just like the rest of the civilized world is doing.”

Guess you haven’t kept up with the news that Canada, Britain, etc. are moving towards PRIVATE health care to deal with their issues… they CAN’T DO IT, and their population is DWARFED by ours…

But don’t worry Furnishedowner, they will pass this… the people are AGAINST IT, Seniors two to one, so you KNOW that they will pass it…

After all, the government is supposed to work for us, right?

The people in government are not using a government option insurance because it doesn’t exist yet. They are using the same options as the rest of us-- Aetna, Blue Cross, UnitedHealthCare, etc.

Massachusetts has the highest insurance premiums? Exactly my point. I want the FOR-PROFIT insurance companies out of the loop for my health care.

Let us hope that legislation passes this year that, somehow, gets everybody affordable health coverage. I’ll vote for any plan that moves us on that path. If there are private health insurance options also there, fine.

Enough talk already. Let’s get universal health care. That’s why the majority of Americans voted for this president. Let’s get the job done.

Furnishedowner

So you want to ignore the Constitution?

If so, thats fine… but I want you to say “I want to have univ. health care and ignore the consitution to do so”

Where in the Constitution does it say ANYTHING about health care? Or no health care?

Do you really think the Founding Fathers had a thought about the 13 colonies’ citizens needing health care? Patients were still getting bled back then; that was the universal health care of that day.

You are way out on a limb, Hoosier.

Furnishedowner

What I thought… you wont admit it…

Im way out on a limb for supporting the Constitution…? What has this country become… :banghead

Hoosier,

Don’t hold your breath…

Furnishedowner,

“The people in government are not using a government option insurance because it doesn’t exist yet. They are using the same options as the rest of us-- Aetna, Blue Cross, UnitedHealthCare, etc.”

Yeah, THAT’s the reason why the Dem’s voted down the ammendment REQUIRING them to use the same plan… :rolleyes

“Let us hope that legislation passes this year that, somehow, gets everybody affordable health coverage. I’ll vote for any plan that moves us on that path. If there are private health insurance options also there, fine.”

That’s just what the Dem speechwriter above thought… almost her exact words… and yet, when put in practice, it DOUBLED her costs when the government got involved… the government is just ANOTHER layer of cost… don’t you see this?..

“Massachusetts has the highest insurance premiums? Exactly my point. I want the FOR-PROFIT insurance companies out of the loop for my health care.”

How very interesing… the point you MISSED in the above article was that the speechwriter was paying $235 per month in DC and $550 in Massachussetts… seems to me, the ANSWER is to allow the speechwriter, who was HAPPY with her coverage in DC, and could AFFORD IT, to be able to BUY IT from DC while living in Massachussetts… No government needed!..

If you are REALLY for competition to lower the costs, JOIN US in OPENING the market nationally like all other insurances, which caused a drop in premiums…

"Where in the Constitution does it say ANYTHING about health care? Or no health care? "

What you are referring to is the “general welfare” clause and/or the “commerce clause”… BOTH of which do NOT provide for this…

“Congress has NOT unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but only those SPECIFICALLY enumerated.” - Thomas Jefferson

Of course the new health care legislation will SPECIFICALLY ENUMERATE exactly what is happening–the legislation will be detailed and weigh many pounds. There is nothing in the Constitution to prohibit that, any more than it was prohibited to have Social Security, Medicare or Veterans’ Health Benefits.

And of course the markets should be opened nationally for health insurance plans. But how many plans will the hospitals have to process? Will this drive up hospital administration costs if suddenly they are dealing with hundreds of insurance plans? Should there be fewer but better plans, including a government option?

Furthermore, clauses like “preexisting condition” should be removed entirely from policies. And any condition that can befall a human being medically (like pregnancy) should be covered. Anywhere. Anytime.

Hoosier, just “supporting the Constitution” won’t solve any thorny problem. It takes real work to do that, not rhetoric. I support our Constitution, too.

I’m admiring our legislators, Republican and Democrat, for finally tackling what had to be done. Americans have suffered from lack of decent affordable health care for too long, and the elected officials know it. If they don’t get this done, may they all be voted out of office.

Furnishedowner

In what way do you support the Constitution? You obviously dont support it enough to want to follow it. You said it yourself. The Constitution DOES specifically point out the powers for the Fed Gov, and thats not one. (Neither is Social Security), which is why we should GET RID OF IT! Its broke! You Liberals say you want to follow the Constiution, but then turn around, and ignore it whenever it doesnt fit your agenda.

Furnishedowner,

Specifically Enumerated means Sepcifically Enumerated in the Constitution… Not a bill… If that were the case, they could do whatever they wanted…

The more you put in the hands of the government, the less free you are… that is a FACT…

What is complete lunacy is giving the healthcare system over to the government who is responsibile for the incompetant mishandling of $5-$600 BILLION in “waste, fraud and abuse” without FIRST proving they can remove the same… All it will do is lead to MORE of the same…

The difference between us is that you don’t hold the government accountable when they prove themselves incompetant… you just want them to do more for you as opposed to you doing for yourself…

If that’s what you believe… fine… then why not TEACH it to your kids… teach them how to hand over their lives to the government… after all, they are the only ones who can do it… :bs

Be careful of what you wish for…

POs and Hoosier,

Some people(not to mention any names) actually think it’s about healthcare and liberal compasion :bs :bs :bs :bs :bs

This peice of crap is loaded with new taxes/tax increases…period. The simple fact the democrats don’t want the bill posted(seems like someone said tranparentcy)and they won’t be on this crap plan themselves should wake up even a Zombie. :banghead

Absolutley right bama. This is about the government wanting to take from the rich/middle class, and give to the poor and more government power, pure and simple. If you disagree with the Dems and Obama on this your a Right Wing Racist.

I cant believe somebody smart enough to turn on a computer isnt smart enough to realize your being lied to about all of this.

Hoosier,

I doubt you have even read the constitiution. I’m sorry but I have not seen one thing that you have EVER contributed here that was not copied from someone else…

Or better yet your famous line.

I agree with everything (insert person’s screen name here) said.

Seriously dude I could care less which side of the political landscape you are on, but at least try to be original. As warped as Positive’s thinking may be at least he comes up with it himself.

Yes I have read the Constitution, many times sir… And… I respect it. Not only have I read the Constitution, I have read the Federalist Papers to UNDERSTAND WHY the stuff thats in there is there.

The Constitution is a pretty simple thing to understand. PO and bama has read it too and respects it, which is probably why we agree on things.

Crazy right wing extremists are just trying to stop America from moving forward though… I know. It must get frustrating.

Hoosier,

Riiiiiiggghhhhttttt. I think you might mean crazy LEFT WING extremists based on your political leanings, I’m sure it was just a freudian slip. :bobble
