time to get in the streets

I think that the House and Senate should take a pay cut like the rest of America. If they are going to try and CAP everything else then they can start with their own pay!

Thanks.

The more I read about cap and trade, the scarier it is. It’s also regressive–how is a person who owns a $75000 house and needs to move going to pay for these upgrades? The rich will certainly have no issue paying for theirs.

Another thing in this bill — sorry, I don’ have the actual text, since it is 1500 pages long and no one’s read it. :rolleyes. But from what I’ve read about it online, there’s a part of the bill that puts conditions on mortgages based on the location of the house, the idea being to push people out of suburban or exurban areas into denser urban areas. This might make sense in theory, but how is it going to work in the real world, when so many companies and businesses are way out in the burbs? Everyone can’t telecommute to their jobs.

They really need to take the time to READ this particular bill and at least modify it significantly instead of passing some piece of crap that will become an albatross around our necks for years and have unintended consequences. I might support it if it was a reasonable bill. Of course it’s all about money and influence though, not what’s best for the country. And did I hear that Goldman Sachs was the firm that would be trading the energy credits? :banghead

GE (NBC, CNBC, MSNBC) is one of the big culprits behind the whole Cap and Trade thing. And they were going to exclusively manage the entire system unless Goldman Sachs has their claws into this scam now.

Yes, they’ll make out like bandits.
What about these green jobs that are supposed to be created by this bill? I keep hearing about these jobs, but no one ever defines what they are or how much they pay.

I just read that the “national building code” part of the bill – where you have to have an inspector approve your house before you can sell – was in the part of the bill that Waxman snuck in at 3AM the night before the vote, that nobody had a chance to read. So maybe even if the Senate passes this thing they will have the common sense to dump this part of the bill (at least I can hope).

Spain done the same "green"jobs and it drove them to 20%unemployment.I hope they dump the whole thing. If not,you know who not to re-elect.

I’m absolutely positive that the REAL unemployment rate is far above 20% right now - meaning the rate if they would count the millions of people who are too lazy to work and live their lives on the public dole.

Mike

So the idiots in washington are putting together another stimulous. How stupid do you have to be to become one of these idiots in charge? It’s proven with bush, now obama stimulous does’nt work. And obama has the nerv to say he does’nt want to use the same old policies that don’t work.
There were hundreds of tea parties this weekend and as usual,no coverage. How long can all this hold on,I too beleive the unemployment % is fraud compared to the real #'s.I think we’ll see an uprising of common sense people very soon,I just hope they don’t ignore the peaceful protests.

Smarter than us. When times are bad they look and act stupid for a reason. The ones screwing up already know their time is up, but they want to keep the systems in place to keep government big. As long as the general population focuses on the idiots in charge, instead of the root causes of troubled programs that should be terminated (federal reserve, failed drug war , pre-emptive wars with unintended consequences, insolvent entitlement programs, etc…etc…) we are not going to go anywhere…MORE OF THE SAME

I hope we’re not headed like the protests in iran or china. There’s so many people mad about a thousand different things, the one they have in common is the govt is really doing a horrible job.Politicians really are toying with alot of emotions by totally ignoring these people.

I hope we are headed for protests that are much more loud and demanding than our tea parties. I see it as the only way out of this. Although I hope the government doesn’t sick our military on us for doing so. If they do, you can be sure that there will be a change of leadership. China is still wacked but they have made huge changes since the Tiananmen Square massacre.

Iran will be a completely different place in 10 years. Ultimately the people will win! If they have the courage to fight back… The Iranians have shown they have courage. Americans are fighters as well. The government has pushed us into the corner and there are many Americans who are willing to die for their freedom. There is only so far they can push before there will be retaliation. And this is the point where those politicians who were committing treason will have their day in court and will be legally sentenced to death by the people.

They really need to wake up and realize that they should fear the people. They have a false impression that they have been chosen to control the masses via dictatorial leadership with complete disregard to the fact that their power can be stripped from them by the people if the people choose to do so.

Just as Obama said to Mahmoud Amademajad, he should take his own advice. The United States government should “unclench it’s fist” that is directed at the American people. Stop training the National Guard to engage in deadly combat with an American “militia”. If they do we will “extend a hand” and allow them to continue their rule of this country however we will expect that it is done with great concern of what the American people want. They shall immediately revert to their elected position as a “civil servant” rather than the “politician” they see themselves as.

The way things are going, this country will probably collapse before they can fully implement this bill anyway, even if it passes.

I really think we’re going the way of Russia after the soviet collapse. A country ruled by billionaire barons and organized criminal gangs. The only difference is that our gangs masquerade as investment banks.

I heard last night that Pres. Obama’s approval ratings, from polling the American voter, is around 70%.

Aren’t some of you a little out of touch? On who’s going to take to the streets?

Furnishedowner

Sorry but it is YOU that is “out of touch” because you listen to media that feed you complete lies. His approval is NOT 70%!!! So whatever media you were watching. STOP WATCHING IT BECAUSE THEY ARE LYING TO YOU!

Here is the truth:

Here’s the current polling data:

“Overall, 52% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Forty-six percent (46%) disapprove.” You’ll note that his approval numbers are rapidly slipping as the American People realize that The Chosen One is literally destroying the country.

Are we following exactly the same path as the great depression, the only difference being that we’re making different mistakes this time? The both started with a stock market drop, then a bear market rally, then during the great depression a slow grind to the bottom. DOW 1,000 anyone?

Mike

I quoted a poll @ 70%, Hooch one @ 61%, and propertymanager one
@ 52% for over-all approval of the job the President is doing.

Three different polls, on three different groups of people. That’s still an approval rating that is great, that any President would be happy for during such rough economic times.

The American people are still behind this President. Everyone knows he was handed an incredibly difficult job, the worst since FDR and Lincoln. He is not destroying the country!

Furnishedowner

Tearing the country apart by the fabric. Piece by piece. Soon we will have complete socialism and I can assure you that this will be the exact same time that the next civil war in America will start. The “people” do not support socialism. Unfortunately they are trained by the government run media complex so for the most part they don’t even know what he is doing to the country.

You, furnishedowner, on the other hand, DO know what he is doing because you hear the conservative side of things every day right here on this site. This is your ONLY source of the other 48% of the country that DIDN’T vote for Obama. Yes, I did say 48%. That’s close to 150 million people who don’t like Obama!!! NOT a small number! And you continue to support him even knowing what he is doing. You have NO excuse.

I quoted a poll @ 70%, Hooch one @ 61%, and propertymanager one @ 52% for over-all approval of the job the President is doing

Furnishedowner - you quoted a poll that was MONTHS OLD; Hooch quoted one that is 2 weeks old; I quoted one that is 2 days old. Do you see the trend? Hint: it’s DOWN!

Obama is a socialist - pure and simple. He is INTENTIONALLY destroying the country and turning it into a socialist state. Hooch is right, once the country is destroyed, there will be chaos and very likely a war.

Mike

Furnished, now let’s start basing our decisions on facts. Propertymanager has the most recent stats so they are accurate for today. Would you mind sharing your main stream media source that is lying to you?

Also, would you care to share with us why you think that Obama is slipping so quickly. Why it seems that people are starting to recognize that he actually isn’t the messiah? Do you think it is because the “people” are becoming aware that he is damaging this country to a degree that could potentially not be repaired? How do you UNDO all of that money that was wasted? Can we get a second shot at that? How about those hundreds of billions that he is saving until the congresses election year? Was that a political move? A political move that has cost us hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars?

Reality… Presidential Approval Index… Monday, July 13th…
