time to get in the streets

“Any President attacking the giant financial mess was bound to get skewered by the opposition. Would you rather have G.W. Bush in office right now? Trying to think his way through the complex mess–wouldn’t that be a scary thought?”

Considering Bush didn’t veto spending, and he went along with the Dem’s on TARP, who know’s what would have happened… however, we would have been spared “stimulus” and Omnibus (which he did threaten to veto because Dem’s wanted to spend too much, which Obama passed), and the 3.5 TRILLION sham of a budget… So who really knows…

“Franklin D. Roosevelt comes to mind as another president who attempted a huge amount of change. He really was hated by the rich. He was in as huge a mess as this president, or even worse with staggering numbers of unemployed, and banks closing their doors. But he got us out of it.”

HE did not get us out of it… the country did… and it’s been argued for a long time that what he did PROLONGED the misery…

“I’m surprised by the pure hate and vehemence against President Obama after these few months.”

I don’t hate Obama… I don’t even know the man, but I absolutely can’t stand his policies…

“Why not give him a chance and a little time.”

Because what he wants to implement, IMHO, will cause more misery for millions of people…

“He is as qualified an individual to lead this country as any before him.”

BASED ON WHAT??? That is an insult to great presidents before him… He needed Hillary Clinton to hold his hand and tell him what to do on Iran… While not a fan of Hillary, she was much more qualified than Obama…

“I have a great deal of trust in his ability to lead us out of this morass.”

Again, BASED ON WHAT??? Be specific…

“For those who discount global warming as “made up”, you have got to refer to the scientific consensus on that.”

The problem you now have Furnishedowner, is that there is currently MORE TOP scientists in the world (if you’d like a list of the TOP ones I can provide it to you) who are DIRECTLY disputing anthrpogenic global warming (i.e. - man-made), as well as, sea level theories, etc… Have YOU considered their opinions and done research on both sides of this issue? They are trying to enact FAR-REACHING taxation that will affect EVERYTHING bought and sold… How does MONEY remove ANY carbon from the atmoshphere?

“The consensus was: YES, GLOBAL WARMING EXISTS, IT IS INCREASED BY MAN’S ACTIVITIES, IT IS HAPPENING MUCH FASTER THAN EXPECTED, IT IS DARN SCARY, WE CAN’T PREDICT HOW FAST OR FAR IT WILL GO, BUT IT IS WARMING. A LOT. The global scientific consensus is in on global warming. Believe it.”

Something to ponder regarding the ultimate lunacy of this… Back in 1900, there were approximately 1.6 BILLION people on earth, and now we have 6.77 BILLION. This does not include all the INCREASED vegetation and animal life that we consume annually (as well as the vast life-forms we do not), which ALL produce CO2… The levels for CO2 from all natural and industrial sources as measured TODAY, will one day have the output matched by the living organisms of the world ALONE… We’ve increased four-fold in 100 years, and that number will grow substantially over the next 100 years… what do you plan on doing then, killing people, animals, etc. off???

“Sure you can even today get people who profess that the earth is flat.”

Who is proposing this…

“You can get some scientists and many other nay-sayers who don’t want to believe the facts about global warming.”

Some scientists??? This shows you are not looking at both sides of this issue… not only are there more than “some scientists”, there are many TOP SCIENTISTS who are directly challenging AGW… These numbers have increased DRAMATICALLY over the past few years… But the reporting on their opposition is NOT given consideration, so people are misled…

“International governmental conferences are not set up and funded because of 1 or 2 or 10 scientists’ opinions.”

I want to get an understanding of how much you know on this subject… How many scientist do you think made up the IPCC??

“The subject is too complex. Many, many international scientists have weighed in. So many that governments around the world are reacting, and changing their policies in response to the global warming threat.”

This should be the first clue for you… all you have to do is follow the money… They see this as a HUGE cash-cow… Think about it… they put in place a tax on all energy consumption, and this hits EVERYTHING… see what the increase in gas did just last year to everything… now, add to it all other energy, and are you starting to get the picture??? They get more and more taxes on EVERYTHING… and guess who gets to pay??? That’s right… EVERYONE, INCLUDING those who were “promised” they would not see ANY tax increase under and Obama administration…

“It is real. It is just plain stupid to deny the international consensus.”

How can you call it “plain stupid” when it’s obvious you are only reading one side of this issue??? Do you even realize that they did not even READ THIS LEGISLATION AGAIN, which is what they are PAID to do??? Is this any kind of leadership? Don’t even question what’s involved??? When it was in committee, Senior Dem’s said Cap and Tax(Trade), was not only a TAX, but a BIG ONE… and they lamented that the people are NOT being told about the details on this… and then in the House, they vote on it WITHOUT even READING IT???

Just think if this was 20-30 years ago, and we were stuck with the major networks reporting only on this…

Did you ever think that maybe this legislation will help push us out of our reliance on Fossil Fuels? As well as help keep the enviroment safe? Why is everyone so against putting limits on the amount of carbon and pollution into the atmosphere. For people who are so against the current administration for what it is doing to our children and grandchildren you sure don’t seem to care that we are looking at a future straight out of Blade Runner.

Christopher,

“Did you ever think that maybe this legislation will help push us out of our reliance on Fossil Fuels?”

Problem is Christopher, that the majority of cars out there are 4-15 years old, NOT the newer cars… With the TAX they just placed on those, it will also make it harder to get those… on top of that, the hybrid’s will use MORE electric, which means MORE fossil fuels used to create the energy, BECAUSE we don’t have the nuclear plants to create it…

Really think about what you are saying… how do you think giving the government MONEY in TAXES will remove ANY CO2 from the atmosphere???

“As well as help keep the enviroment safe?”

People are not anti-environment, but this legislation will make EVERYTHING ACROSS THE BOARD cost MORE, not less… How does this help the environment by giving the government more money???

“Why is everyone so against putting limits on the amount of carbon and pollution into the atmosphere. For people who are so against the current administration for what it is doing to our children and grandchildren you sure don’t seem to care that we are looking at a future straight out of Blade Runner.”

I couldn’t disagree more… and you cannot provide proof of such inane claims… Think about this Christopher, with ALL THE CO2 that’s been going into the atmosphere over the past 100 years, do you know how much the temperature inreased… .74 degrees Celsius… that’s it! Now, did you hear in the news that in 2008, that was completely negated by the cooling for that year??? Of course you didn’t, because these things are not reported… so why do you NOT question what you are being fed, ESPECIALLY with how legislation like this, WHICH WAS NOT EVEN READ, will reach EVERY area of yours and your children’s life??..

Nobody here is against it Christopher. The issue is why we (the taxpayers) should have to shoulder the burden.

and then in the House, they vote on it WITHOUT even READING IT???

And they couldn’t read it even if they wanted to because it wasn’t even completely written. That is how ridiculous this stuff is getting.

Did you ever think that maybe this legislation will help push us out of our reliance on Fossil Fuels?

YES.
Reduce the Worlds “carbon” emissions and you reduce the dependence on oil while hurting other industries like coal, ethanol, etc.

And it will also hurt the industries we have. The United States is the Saudi Arabia of coal.

Why is everyone so against putting limits on the amount of carbon and pollution into the atmosphere.

Because it’s plant food and completely unnecessary to scam the public into thinking it is being done to help the atmosphere while collecting trillions of dollars in carbon taxes. The burden is on the average Joe with higher energy costs. We should have an intelligent discussion about Cap and Trade and it’s ramifications with ALL parties fully educated on the issue.

Really think about what you are saying… how do you think giving the government MONEY in TAXES will remove ANY CO2 from the atmosphere???

Good point, and to top it off it is perfectly fine there in the first place.

The messiah moron has specifically targeted coal, then oil.If they really care about pollution, nuclear has no air pollution of any kind. And are’nt these fields of windmills so much better looking than an oil rig that can’t be seen from the shore. :rolleyes

Add to that there are COUNTLESS other products that are made from petroleum, so it is a fantasy to think that the countries that are pulling it from the ground are going to stop…

I am with those that want more nuclear. Makes a lot of sense.

Otherwise, once again, I won’t debate something as complex as global warming with know-nothings. I’m a know-nothing myself on that evolving problem.

I will defer to the opinion of the international scientific community. If they do all their research, meet and have conferences in a few years and then decide, “Global warming is dead. Now it’s global cooling”, then I will believe that. It is just too stupid to not listen to the CONSENSUS on this subject.

Just like I believe the CONSENSUS of scientists who told us that the earth is not flat. I didn’t figure that one out myself, either.

For those of you who hate the government so much, you should make a trip to Washington, D.C. You can go right to the office of your state senators and congresspeople.

They will greet you, show you around. You might then feel like “Yes, they DO work for me. This is MY elected representative’s office. I pay for him/her.”

That was the impression that I got when I went to Washington. They are ordinary people trying to do an extraordinary job and getting a lot of constant criticism. I admire them for even trying. I admire anyone who contributes to governing, whether local or more. I can’t believe the stamina and guts it takes to sit in a chair for hundreds of hours and attend all those meetings, and try to figure things out. And take all the shots from people who don’t contribute a darn thing.

I don’t admire people who just bitch, and demonize our elected officials. If you don’t like what’s happening, get into public office and try to change things from the inside. That’s how our system works.

Furnishedowner

I agree on the nuclear. France has been using nuclear energy extensively for years.

I believe that global warming is man made but I don’t think we know the scope of it’s affects yet. My issue is that they seem to want the homeowner to shoulder the entire burden in this “cap and trade” bill. That’s hard to swallow after they’ve spent billions bailing out bloodsuckers like AIG.

“I will defer to the opinion of the international scientific community. If they do all their research, meet and have conferences in a few years and then decide, “Global warming is dead. Now it’s global cooling”, then I will believe that. It is just too stupid to not listen to the CONSENSUS on this subject.”

They ARE disputing AGW, it is just NOT being reported… But no matter how many top scientists are posted disputing AGW, I don’t think you will change you mind… so that just leaves the rest of us to defend ourselves politically…

“Just like I believe the CONSENSUS of scientists who told us that the earth is not flat. I didn’t figure that one out myself, either.”

So as long as you have some sort of “consensus” (which I would like you to define your definition of), you believe ANYTHING told to you??? That’s pretty dangerous, considering the politicization of science these days…

"For those of you who hate the government so much, you should make a trip to Washington, D.C. You can go right to the office of your state senators and congresspeople. They will greet you, show you around. You might then feel like “Yes, they DO work for me. This is MY elected representative’s office. I pay for him/her.”

The senators and congresspeople do not show you around… you are led on tours… I have been there a few times… you might get lucky and speak to them and exchange pleasantries, but TRY to actually get face time and explore policy… at best, you will be passed along to their staff…

The government DESERVES it reputation as in this past year they have passed SWEEPING, FAR-REACHING legislation WITHOUT EVEN READING IT, which also INCLUDES the Cap and TAX (trade) bill… This is what they are PAID TO DO…

“They are ordinary people trying to do an extraordinary job and getting a lot of constant criticism. I admire them for even trying. I admire anyone who contributes to governing, whether local or more. I can’t believe the stamina and guts it takes to sit in a chair for hundreds of hours and attend all those meetings, and try to figure things out. And take all the shots from people who don’t contribute a darn thing.”

:rolleyes Well, that’s certainly your opinion, and you are entitled to it, but we are watching as they pass these bills WITHOUT letting people contribute…

“I don’t admire people who just bitch, and demonize our elected officials. If you don’t like what’s happening, get into public office and try to change things from the inside. That’s how our system works.”

No, our system is a Representative Republic, and although they have been IGNORING what the people want, the best chance to make changes are near election times… attitudes and ideas have to be fleshed out and built up BEFORE then… Just look at the previous Tea Party and the upcoming one… they, right now, are ignoring them, but in contrast, the news will report on 500-1000 liberal protesters for their cause celeb who have in most cases been bussed in…

If you believe the government is not doing its job, it is the peoples responsibility AND right to say something… and you want to criticize THEM for that, just because you don’t agree??? People who are in government have cushy rides (i.e. - salary, healthcare, bonuses, travelm staff, pensions, etc.) compared to the average American… they can take some arrows for their boneheaded mistakes…

Excellent points positive. ALL based on reason and logic.

For those of you who hate the government so much, you should make a trip to Washington, D.C. You can go right to the office of your state senators and congresspeople.

I suggest all Democrats take a trip to Williamsburg VA. You will be very interested in seeing how this country was formed via actors all over the town. They are living in the time and little skits are always going on around the town. The issues they faced are remarkably similar to those faced today.

It is incredibly inspiring. It will give you goose bumps and make you libs love this country again. Your fixation on “changing” this country to a socialist form of government will be instantly gone. You will want it back the way it was long ago, prior to the socialist attack we have been under for the past 60 years.

Everyone cheers during the moving presentations and you will see some people fighting back tears. Everyone meaning Democrats and Republicans. God Bless The United States and DOWN with the socialist soft tyranny that is tearing this country apart.

New inspiration today with Palin’s announcement. All she has to push is her proven track record.Simply say “talk is cheap as you"ve seen,I simply say look at what I’ve done”.Then it’s over for the teleprompter king, cause by that time EVERYONE will be soooo sick of his"talk".So glad to hear this, pay no attention to how the mainstream media is gonna attack this well accomplished woman.

Anderson Cooper (CNN) was saying that she stepped down to avoid pending criminal charges. I wouldn’t get my hopes up about a presidential run.

Yeah I’d really bank on anything that puppet anderson says. And do you mean to tell me they took a break from their 24/7 coverage of micheal jackson, and they wonder why fox is kickin their a$$.Plus I’m sure that the obama team of lawyers which cost her half a million to defend herself would’ve found something if there was anything.

This is what I was talkin about when I said the attacks will begin again,CNN is bought and paid for and ted turner is a liberal idot. You do have a remote control, right?Use it,and you may find a real news channel. :beer

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true. A governor just went missing to Argentina for 5 days to visit his soulmate. Nothing surprises me anymore.
Even if she were running for president isn’t it a bit premature to resign? Is she going to campaign for 3 and a half years?

Who knows, normally there’s around a year or two of campaining.Except for our last election which seemed to last forever(and obama is still campaining).I can’t tell why she would this early,I think romney is reving up too. It’s gonna be one hell of a lineup, but by 2012 I think kermit the frog will win against the teleprompter king.Thats why they’re all scrambling around to try to byout the next election in 2010.It would do us all good though to have checks and balances back in govt, instead of this unstoppable spending spree goin on.

I’m sure we’ll know whether it’s true or not within a matter of days…

Look at this way, if the allegations are true and she flames out, you will have gotten rid of another bad apple, in addition to Sanford, way before the 2012 election. It would be a disaster if this person were chosen as the nominee and this stuff surfaced afterward.

Have a great fourth of July.

I think the majority of congress should be in jail,it’s prob just the ones who don’t "go along"with the crowd of crooks who get the dirt brought into the light,in reality the really dirty ones are the ones in there year after year. Have yourself a great forth also,I’m headed out now to tea party then watch fireworks.Good times.

For you believers in man-made global warming, I would just like to ask one very simple question. What temperature are you shooting for? Scientists tell us that the temperature has been both warmer and colder in the past. In fact, the Little Ice Age just ended in the mid 1800’s. Naturally, we are warmer now than in a mini-ice age. So, my question again is - WHAT TEMPERATURE ARE YOU SHOOTING FOR? Are you looking to keep the global temperature the same as it is today? Are we looking for the temperature it was in 1850? Would you lefties like it a few degrees warmer? What exactly do you want?

Mike

Mike,
It’s only about making their pockets warmer.I can’t believe anyone would give that idiot Al Gore any money for anything that comes out of his lying lips muchless millions and counting.I guess piglosi and the rest of the looney tunes are pissed they did’nt cash in on this scam earlier as he’s done. Now they are playing catch up at the expense to ALL americans.
