Obama...

Bob,

The appeal of Obama isn’t what he has done, it’s what he has not done that will get him elected in the Fall. He hasn’t led our economy into what many say is a recession. He hasn’t got us into two wars we didn’t need to be in in the first place. He hasn’t causes us to sink further and further into trillions of dollars worth of debt. He hasn’t turned the White House into an international joke. I could go on but you get the point and I think that’s why he’s receiving the support that he has so far. I don’t support him because he has some astounding legislative record, I support him because he is as far away from Bush Oil Family as you can be.

I would say that the majority of people who support him are voting against the current administration as much as they are voting for his campaign. All those people crying “socialist” are going to raise our taxes are misinformed. If you look back historically taxes and interest rates have actually been lower when a Democrat has been in the oval office, that’s a fact you can look up. It makes me laugh when I hear conservatives warn of higher taxes when look at the mess we are in now. Look at all the items in our lives that are going up in price significantly: gas, food, housing, etc. Just because they aren’t labeled income tax does not mean it isn’t hurting your pocketbook.

Campaign promises are used to get elected. Once elected we will hear the thousands of reasons why the promises can’t be kept. Politicians are textbook sociopaths-no moral conscience. Morality left our society 40 years ago. If history is any indicator, the Dems will tax us to death and punish the population that pays the most taxes while rewarding those who pay no taxes. Inflation will rise, property values will continue to decline, interest rates will go up. Where are you Jimmy Carter?

I agree with what was said.

The appeal of Obama is that he’s the Anti-Bush. (Except Bush entered the white house with similar experience). He isn’t a Washington lifer, he hasn’t been in Washington for 20 years.

That’s why he’s fresh, new, and different. And for many, after 8 stale years, that’s good enough to hang their hat on.

The only hope McCain has is whether our nation has a lot of core democrats who can’t vote for Obama.

Do you have a site reference? In recent memory. Kennedy was the last democrat to cut income taxes. Taxes and interest rates (is your reference the prime rate?) were really high when Carter was in office. Both went down when Reagan was in office. Clinton raised income tax rates while he was in office. Bush 43 lowered income tax bracket rate and cut capital gains taxes and for quite a few years of his administration the prime rate was lower than it has been in many years.

The problem with the Republican tax cuts is that they did not contain government spending. Instead, deficit spending allowed the national debt to exponentially increase under Republican administrations. At least Clinton pushed for and accomplished Reagan’s goal of a balanced budget.

I have to admire President Clinton’s accomplishment. A balanced budget, a 25% reduction in the size of government, and a concerted effort to use surplus revenue to pay down the national debt made our economy the strongest in the world.

…I’m not a big Tom DeLay fan but when he’s right, he’s right!

That’s open mindedness on your behalf.

what does being black have anything to do with it? For a nominee who doesn’t want to be discriminated against due to his color, he sure uses his color to advance his career. I would be interested in talking about his religion at some point. You can’t pick your race, but your religion is a choice. And just how fast did he turn his back on his pastor of 15 years because he thought it might hurt his nomination chances? In a heartbeat. This this the kind of guy you want working for you?

here’s one simple reason why barack hussein obama is a joke.

He should be brought up and hanged on treason charges just for this…only our messed up nation would consider electing him leader of our country! :anon :banghead

Open-minded about what??? His voting record in the Senate speaks for itself. Out of 100 Senators he finishes, uhhh…100th as the most liberal!

http://www.nationaljournal.com/voteratings/sen/lib.htm

I didn’t cast his votes for him - this is on him. He’s a far left-wing liberal.

Keith

It’s already gotten to that point Mike. Bush and his Oil cronies have run this country into the ground. Employment figures released today show the largest unemployment increase in over 20 years. Wake Up already. The Bush administration has been a complete failure and YOU KNOW IT MIKE.

TARealty,

I agree that Bush has done a terrible job with the economy. His prescription drug addition to Medicare is a financial disaster and all the rampant bailouts of anyone and everyone associated with the mortgage crisis is a national shame. President Bush is certainly no conservative and that is what we need - A CONSERVATIVE!

However, moving from Bush’s crappy policies to socialism is a HUGE mistake that will make matters 100 times worse. Socialism does not work and only ends in financial disaster for the people.

Mike

Barak Obama is a blend of John Kennedy and Martin Luther King. He is the only one in recent history, especially the last 7 years, who has risen to the eloquence needed for the bully pulpit that is a President’s chief asset. The president sets policy and inspires, others do the grunt work.

We have the choice between a young, energetic, multicultural and innovative young man, and an old, rich white man. We have the choice between the politics of hope and the politics of hate. Will this country rise from the ashes of the current administration or be destined to the gutter of history?

Robert Bourque

Barak Obama is a blend of Jimmy Carter and Sean Penn. He will not stand for the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag, his wife has not been proud of the United States of America through the course of her entire adult life except for the time her husband ran for the presidency, and he has no experience for the job. Carter did not have experience for the job, we ended up with inflation out of control, OPEC whipping us with impunity, Iran taking hostages with impunity, and the Panama Canal, which we built and paid for, given back to the Panamanians.
There is not a president in recent memory with a bigger heart than Jimmy Carter. He has practiced diplomacy and met with the leaders of rouge nations in the name of peace; he has joined volunteer construction crews in the name of building homes for people in need. His heart was completely in the right place, he was completely naïve and weak. His presidency will be classified by pundits as a failure forevermore.
I wrote in another post about racism. I believe that Jim Crow laws have unfairly caused a class struggle between races and ethnicities not just during the enforcement of these laws, but for at least a generation afterward. Many posters expressed a sentiment that racism no longer exists. I’m certain that overt racism no longer exists, but I’m equally sure that examples of disingenuous acts provide examples of racism in modern society all the time.
This is what is so frustrating about Obama. I wonder if he will be elected simply because he is black and in spite of his distaste for our country, his socialist agenda, and his complete lack of preparation to become the Commander in Chief of our military.
Say what you would like about Democrats in the White House, the final outcome of socialism is communism which has failed so many times other countries, I marvel at the number of people who believe in it here.
I agree that we have not seen any sign of a fiscal conservative in recent years. Since lowering expenses is not wildly popular, and democratic politics often amounts to not much more than a popularity contest, no one has been willing to cut expenses.
Bush’s legacy will be remembered in the history books in a much different light than what is portrayed in the current media. He made unpopular decisions because he believed it was the right thing to do. That alone separates him from many of the poll cats in Washington. He recognized the important relationship between oil and the wealth of this country, and until we end our reliance on foreign oil, we need someone to protect our economic interests. If you think things cannot get any worse than George W. Bush, just wait.

hmmm…I’d say a mix between louis faracon and al sharpton would be more accurate. Two high quality human beings :bs

Socialism creates lack of innovation. Also, if you make something free, you will have 1000’s more hands out than if you don’t provide something free. We know this just by looking at our own government hand-outs.

Go Ron Paul.

Funder,
Excellent post…

The study regarding Obama is flawed as many articles on the web will show. Here is one: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/31/flawed-study-ranks-obama-_n_84375.html

But don’t actually read anything if your narrow-mindedness is challenged and you find that painful. Just go on with the fears the Repub dish out to you.

Are you serious???

Let’s analyze what you said.

Paragraphs #1 and 2:
Barack Obama is Jimmy Carter and Sean Penn? Wow! Way to draw solid conclusions. That’s solid and you have so much evidence that this is true! The rest of it is your biased view of Jimmy C which has zero to do with Barack unless if you have some DNA evidence of some kind.

Paragraph #3:
Racism. Have you been to Missisippi, West Virginia, or Kentucky lately? No, there’s no racism there…

Paragraph #4
You wonder if Obama will be elected simply because he’s black. I mean, by studying history alone, you’d have to assume YES. Being black has worked so well for all 43 previous Presidents. We should maybe only count 3/5 of the votes for Barack! I wish I was black so it would help me become more successful as well!!!

Oh, and you cite his lack of preparation. I know in 2000 you were questioning Bush’s lack of experience as well I am sure. (Just copy and paste the links from 2000 where you questioned Bush’s readiness). Beside, the qualification for being elected in this democracy are:
Be at least 35
and be an American citizen.

Don’t let actual facts affect your smear campaign of hate and fear.

Paragraph #5
In one sentence you go from Democrats to Socialism to Communism!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA
That’s the best ever. By voting for a democrat who might balance the budget like Clinton, we are really voting for COMMUNISM!!! How un-American! (No fear-mongering there).

Paragraph #6
You acknowledge a problem about not being fiscal responsibile but you don’t mention who controlled the house and senate in 2000 - 2006 and the white house from 2001 - 2008. It’s not mentioned by party or by name. A simple ommission I’m sure of your UNBIASED VIEW!!!

Paragraph #7
First you start by drawing a conclusion that Bush’s presidency will somehow be remembered as greater than it is. (Not drawing any conclusions are we!!!)
Then you state he made unpopular decisions because he was right. (Which unpopular decision are you calling out?) Why not be specific in making your point? OR are you referring to our relationship with oil? What has George Bush done to strengthen us as a nation in our dependency on oil?

By finding alternatives? What the hell are you talking about is basically what I’m asking. Bush has done nothing to make oil more readily available for the US. Any chart of historic gas prices would reflect that from 2000 to present day.

Then you end your paragraph with the warning that things can and could get worse than George Bush. (Fear-mongering). Anyway, don’t let any of the real facts get in the way of your Repub-Radio spewings. Just keep searching for the ditto heads that believe your crap which was very heavy on Opinion with almost no FACTS.

Other than these points though, the post was flawless.

Let’s get Obama to continue the real estate bust. I will sell everything I have and so will everyone else and flood the market more once we go from 15% TO 30+% CAPITAL GAINS. Sell in 2009 or reduce your profits by 15% or more, in fact some of you might be in underwater with his tax increase (twilighting the tax cuts is raising taxes)I think this thread should be removed and the user banned. There is no room for a lib infecting one of the true last bastions of capitalism and the little guy. LETS PAY SOME TAXES< GO OBAMA RUIN US.

We have the choice between the politics of hope and the politics of hate.
Don't let actual facts affect your smear campaign of hate and fear.
What the hell are you talking about is basically what I'm asking
It isn’t enough to accuse other people of hatred. The idea that you might know the intent of another person is absolutely ludicrous. I do not have a hateful cell in my body. Perhaps your emotionally charged demeanor is making you delusional.

FACT
“I’m the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning, and as president, I will end it.
Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat systems.
I will institute an independent defense priorities board to ensure that the Quadrennial Review is not used to justify unnecessary defense spending.
Third, I will set a goal for a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair trigger alert, and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenal.”
Barrack Obama

FACT
Camp 22, just one of North Korea’s labor camps and detention facilities, is as big as the city of Los Angeles, and contains 50,000 men, women, and children. Any farmer who lives in North Korea and listens to foreign broadcasts, or reads foreign newspapers, or owns or possesses a cell phone or radio that can pick up unauthorized broadcasts, risks being sent to this detention facility.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw0gXWcp3Hc

By the way, men, women and children are routinely beaten and killed in this detention facility, and North Korea has the world’s fourth largest military and one of the world’s poorest economies.

FACT
Five former hostages, who were held in Iran in 1979, are convinced that Mahmood Ahmadinejad was one of the people who took them hostage. There are photographs all over the media which show Ahmadinejad next to a blindfolded hostage. But then, he states that their current uranium-enrichment program will be used for peaceful purposes.

FACT
Entitlements comprise 60% of government spending in the United States of America today. It is estimated that by 2013, they will comprise 70% of government spending.

But what about defense? Don’t worry Clinton already slashed defense, retired Navy ships, closed Air Force bases. He laid off tens of thousands of government and civilian employees in doing so. But, hey, he helped fix the budget. He did this because the world was safe. WHY??? Because the defense programs of the Reagan Administration worked, and East Germany and the United Soviet Socialist Republic no longer presented a threat.

My spewing, hateful, crap, fear mongering opinion:

I’m sure that people would use fear to accomplish political agendas, but it is pure prudence that inspires me to say that cutting defense in this political climate is a dangerous idea. Barrack Obama is simply unqualified to be the Commander in Chief of the United States Military.

What have any of us done to reduce our reliance on foreign oil? We had this problem 25 years ago, and 5 years ago we made record sales of 8 cylinder SUVs. If I could cut your expenses by 60%, how would your budget look? What have we, as a culture, done to end our reliance on entitlement programs? Show me a candidate who will answer that question, and I will show you my vote.
