I hope you have all taken a few minutes today to remember our troops who are not home today with their loved ones. Julie and I both did today and are always mindfull of that because of my 19 years in the Army.

Keith is correct on one point here folks, the REI forums are not for advertising your product or service.

You should always advertise yourself and the business will follow.

As to this topic on Nouveau Riche University, :bs I so disagree with about 89% of what I have just read from my own 3 years of personal experience.

I would be first to say it is not right for everyone but it was not meant to be. I would be humbled to share my story with anyone who really cares to know.

I have excelled in Real Estate Investing and have been doing it full time now for over 4 years now and ALL the education I have recevied from many different sources have helped me to get where I am at today. No one source is responsible for my success.

Also their is NO SUCH THING as a self made Millionaire, trust me on this. We all had help!

Any type of education, be it a fourm post on www.ReiClub.com, or another great forum, a book you have read, a program from one of the Rei Club expert teachers, a magazine article, some help from a mentor, an investing CD, a Video, a REI group meeting, maybe even just watching Flip this house, or College classes that help take the fear out of investing and helps you move forward to do your first or your hundreth deal is good.

My advice is be very careful as to who you take advice from. As you have seen in the above post some people are very quick to judge and bash something they have not gone through themselves and think they know all about it, when most people can see that they really do not.

You don’t have to be a full time 24 hour a day investor to be in the game of investing. You just have to take daily action.

I would gather most people in here (90% or more is my best guess) have full or part time jobs and don’t support themselves off of their Real Estate Investing deals. It may just be a pass time.
Which is OK.

It is very hard to do this full time and takes a lot of work and Edcuation and YES a lot of mistakes are going to be made, but if it’s your passion and you really love what you are doing you will make it.

I also advise to stay away from negative people, and as one poster put it, “Run from negative people like they have the plauge”

Well this is just my 2 cents worth, now off to the fireworks! (outside my house I mean)

Also Keith, just wanted to say in Public I do thank you for your years of serivce as a warrant officer to our country. I am sure many who have not said so appreciate it too. :cool

I read this report to the Moderators also, started laughing when the person who reported it said it is “slander”.

Libel includes statements made in a printed publication” and “slander includes spoken statements.”

Because of the First Amendment rights of free speech, it can be much more difficult to win a slander or libel case in the United States.

I listened to Keith’s post several times and not once did I hear any spoken words, so if their Legal Department In My Opinion does not know the difference between Libel and Slander I would find myself a new Legal Department. We could get into Absence of Malice, but then again In My Opinion this would also be over their heads.

Secondly if you first say “In my opinion” then Libel is not attached to the statement as it is only the writers opinion.

Wallace is a perfect example of a NR Member that comes here, is a productive Member, and doesn’t advertise blatantly.

This is all that is being asked of any of the NR folks (or any other member for that matter!). I think that speaks volumes about him and I would have a much higher probability of dealing with him that I would the other babbling loud mouths and cowards (hiding anonymously to report an issue is cowardly) that I’ve seen!

Ok, here is my Rant:

As eveyone knows by now I am a Army Veteran, who lets say got the short end of the stick after over 19 years of service but I try to always remain a very positive person and try to look for the good in people.

I am just a little bit “upset” about something and I think it is time to bring out the teeth.

I also run and moderate 3 groups (over 19,000 members total) that talks about Real Estate Investing as well and I see people trying to internet market some product the wrong way and it really needs to stop!

We all see so much Hype and have grown tired of it.

If you are marketing ANY type of product for consumer use, please don’t lead off with a compenstation plan, or some WOW ~ product that will make the blind see, raise the dead and make the deaf hear or promote some awesome grand leader with all the answers.

Lead off with yourself…Be a real person. I bet you are much better than you think you are!

You would not knock on a pre-foreclosure homeowners door, and lead off with how you are going to make a ton of money off of them, or how you will take their house the fastest, hopefully you will lead off with yourself and try to solve their problems.

For this is how you will be truly wealthy.

Please remember that REAL Estate is a people business.

That is the secret to success.

Now stop reading this and go but in some 70% FMV offers, it is a Buyers Market right now you know! :biggrin
