cell phones, PDA, Blackberry??

They’re $600 a pop and Cingular/ATT sucks here!

Keith

There’s no way in Hell I’m paying $600 for a phone! I’ve got a Razr…it’s alright. It does it’s job, the processor in it is a little slow though. It’s got a nice screen, cool looking keypad and it is pretty thin. Most of the time I don’t even notice it in my pocket.

Screw that peice of garbage! My g/f has one, I definitely hate it.

Yeah, it took a little getting used to. Some of the buttons are small and sometimes it takes some skill to hit the right one. It does have an external, expandable memory card, so that’s nice. My biggest complaint is the processor speed. It gets bogged down pretty easy.

So long as we’re venting about our phones…

I have a w810i and it sucks. The UI is crap and the thing feels like a brick in your pocket. Alas I have 18 more months before I’m eligable for my carriers HUP.

I’ll soon be getting the 8525, seen here:http://reviews.cnet.com/smart-phones/cingular-8525/4505-6452_7-32133413.html

I had it narrowed down between the 8125 & 8525, and after
seeing all the reviews and info, I’m going for the 8525.
Cingular/AT&T isn’t so bad around these parts.

Made by the same company as mine and very much the same internally so far as I know. You will like it as long as it doesn’t go into a puddle like mine did.

I remember when the razor phone first came out a few years ago. I think I shelled out close to $500 for the phone and a new headset. Kind of funny now how you can get one for $9.99 with a new 2 year contract. I think I learned my lesson on the fact that a phone is a phone is a phone. The fancy ones are nice (my wife has one) but I’m good with my plain old razor.

So you like(d) it, eh?

I’m a flip phone guy myself, and have become accustomed to
them.
Is the 8525 model too bulky and does it get a good signal?
Depending on the side by side comparison, I’ll either
get the 3125 (flip/smart phone/MP3 player) or the 8525.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Well I just got my new Motorola Q ph. from Verizon. So far I like but had to subscribe to broadband service at $40 per/month.

I liked the Q except for the fact that its the Windows Mobile 5.0 phone edition as opposed to the full version. Its similar but lacks touchscreen and a few features that I need in a business phone.

I also use the motorola Q for AllTel. No to shabby so far.

Your gonna wanna go here an install the fix for your Q to prevent battery drain. I won’t try to explain it, there is a full explaination on the link below. I done this an it made a dramatic difference in my battery life.

We have a couple of Motorola Qs here at work that I have to manage technically…I hate them. I shudder ever time one of the two users starts a sentance with “My Q…”

I feel the same way about Samsung Blackjacks and from what I can tell the 2 are VERY similar in design.

LOL since we are venting…I have a moto q also. I like that it is smaller and lighter than the treo 600 I upgraded from. I also like that it has a windows operating system. I can create and manipulate office documents on the go. I don’t like the texting feature. It doesn’t have threaded text messaging so once you send a text it is gone and you have to start a new conversation practically eveytime. I also can’t get it to work with my email client. But that might just be my technically challenged fault.

I just got my Cingular/ AT&T 8525 and love it.
This thing rocks!
Of course, I did a TON of research before buying it.

A good place to go is phonescoop.com, or even
youtube.com.
Tons of un-biased reviews.

Verizon service, and just picked up a great deal on Samsung SCHI730 which actually classifies as a handheld computer vs cell phone. Still learning the ins and outs, and would definitely say you should be pretty tech savy if going these routes vs just cell. :biggrin

I have the Blackberry 8703 w/ Sprint. I like it a lot. I actually use the email and internet quite a bit. In a pinch I look up directions, etc online. (Dont have OnStar or nav system… yet.)

Anyone find the gps on their phones to be helpful? My wife’s a realtor, and was considering getting a garmin, but I told her to wait and just get the gps on her phone. Verizon has a talking gps. Good idea?
