Hello I am a new investor and my question is do I need to get a licensed general contractor to give me repair estimates or should I use a handyman.
my next question is why do I need an appraisal on a property if I only intend to wholesale it to another investor I do realize I could get stuck with it and have to hold or fix up the property.

You don’t need an appraisal, but you do need to figure out what the house will be worth once its repaired and saleable. And you need to figure out what the repairs may cost so you can make an offer and work in your profit margin.
A good unlicensed handyman will work fine. Often times the licensed contractors are trying to make payments on that new 1 ton Chevy Dually and they are a few payments behind on their mortgage and will try to make it up at your expense.
