I guess we are all rich then, because I happen to believe wholeheartedly that my wife and 2 sons are hands down the best on the planet.
5 kids? that’s great. we would like to have that many eventually, but i’ll have to get this RE career jump started. whether or not you believe money is important, kids are pricey these days.
We have THREE great children and all of them are out of the house! And…two slightly maladjusted cats…but we have our health and the latest storm did no discernable damage to our properties…
BTW cecsix, where I come from the rudest questions you can ask are “How much do you make?” and “How much money do you have?”…most folks won’t even entertain these questions – I think that’s where the answers are going (in case you’re struggling with it)!
Hey,
Being rich isn’t about money. Being rich is a state of mind. Some of us, no matter how much money we have, will never be free enough to stop and eat the heart of a watermelon. And some of us will be rich without ever being more than a paycheck ahead of the game.
—Harvey. B. Mackay
You will never be as rich as you are when you spend the day playing with a grandchild. Got one and one on the way which makes this old man feel very blessed. May your monetary riches increase as your family, friends and faith multiply.
Kind of funny how that turned out eh! You were looking for the richest people on the board and found some of the richest people in the world!
Robology 101 says- If you are in the world searching for happiness and wealth it will elude you every time… Yet if you focus on your FAMILY, FRIENDS AND DOING THE RIGHT THING IT WILL FIND YOU IT IS NOT A SEARCH ALL THE TOOLS ANY PERSON NEEDS ARE AS CLOSE AS THE THINGS HE LOVES!
Being Rich to me is about changing lives everyday. If I can find a way to make someones day by something small or something big then I feel like I am winning. I am blessed beyond belief, A geat job ( if you have to have one) great friends, & family and I am healthy.
And while I have you here , I love reading all the posts.
MDhaas you really take things to heart and have great advice for everyone. I can tell you are one of the good guys.
Reoconsultants, I enjoy your humor, your advice, and your debates.
Keep um coming guys.
I friend of mine always says " we are all millionairs already, we just haven’t made all of our deposits yet "
i never expected a real estate message board to be chock full of comedians.
money isn’t important
want to help my fellow man
passion for what i’m doing
you guys are a riot. the only good reason we all started investing is because we wanted to make money. nobody ever said "you know, i would really love to help my fellow man. should i join the peace corps? no. should i become a nurse at a free clinic? no. school teacher? no. i got it! i’ll be a real estate investor! that’s exactly what everybody here said, i’m sure of it.
I wanted to get into this only if I could supply quality rentals to quality people. My tenants have diswashers, garbage disposals and updated kitchens and I have to cook in a 60 yr old kitchen with none of that stuff. I gotta rethink this.
The money is nice, but for me it’s secondary. A major defect, huh?
I left a great-paying, high-profile government job in DC (I would tell you what I was doing but you probably wouldn’t believe me anyway…hit me with an IM if you REALLY want to know…) to move down here to Louisiana to do the things I really wanted to do in life (one of which is REI)…I took a government job here that I love and pays the bills…it pays about $30-35K less than the old one but I’d do it again in a heartbeat!
It’s never been about the money – but, then I started as a private in the Army!
no, i’m really just joking. there is nothing defective about wanting to provide people with the opportunity to live in a decent home who otherwise might not have the luxury.
but investing of any kind, by the very definition, is primarily about money. otherwise, it’s called charity work.
Well I have to say that I win in the kid department so far, I have 6! And I think my hubby would insist that I’m the best wife ;D. And as far as wealth, brag brag, we have done pretty well for ourselves. So well in fact that my hubby retired at age 40 6 1/2 years ago. Our success was due to good ol real estate
I think it is wonderful that everyone feels the richest. Family and all that love is the greatest. After all, isn’t that why we were put here?
I wouldn’t knock being a nurse…I grossed over $100k each of the last 2 years as one. The only people who say money doesn’t bring you happiness are those who don’t have money.
