My partner and I are trying to decide on a business name. Please let me know which of the following you like best. Also, feel free to suggest other names.
L&S Property Investments (L&S are the initials of our last names)
BB&M Property Investments (stands for Boston Brick & Mortar)
Many people like to associate there name with their company. My advice is to not do this if you want to seek some solid bank financing in your corp name down the road that is NPG money. Banks prefer real business names. ONe of the odd ball things you here about in underwritting.

I remember first time I went to apply for business credit using 2 of my companies started same time. One was a holding company and did not really associate with my name and the other was my property management company which was my (last name) property mgmt LLC. The bank denied that line even though it had more activity and income.
The best names sound like old jewish names. I know it sounds odd but look at Wallstreet and the names for investment firms.
Recently some business associates and myself launched a new company and we wanted it to sound somewhat prestigious so we named it Salomons Rothschild. Sounds like an old time Wallstreet investment bank but neither name associates with any of us.
But its good to have names tailored to your business concept as well. We can not be successful with the name Trump… (LOL)
Now BB&M is nice really. But with the name you give it, I move it more for construction…but that is fine. Hey even LG (Electronics) changed what the LG standed for in the 90’s…
Another thing to keep in mind if you plan to build a website and use email, pay the $20 a month and have a custom email address. Do not use a free email from yahoo or google. business sounds more legit with personal email address. Many people will feel more comfortable with your company that way.
BTW. what are your investing goals, someone on here may throw out a good business name for you.
Also understand the definition of “Blind” advertising Try and use a name that allows you to say what you do within the name… It cuts down on 25% of advertising cost in the newspapers…
One of the main reasons to incorporate is to protect you in the case of a lawsuit. A corporation does this by establishing that the company is separate from you. If you name the company John Smith company and you are John Smith and you go to court and say that you John Smith is different from John Smith company…you see where I am going? It does not automatically pierce the corporate veil, but it doesn’t help.
I name my companies after Star Trek Characters. Not Kirk or Spock. That would sound weird, but after the people that tend to be episodic specific. They sound exotic and thoughtful.
