Where do deeds come from...

I know I am relatively new here…but i was curious to know where I get a new deed, once I have had it signed over to me by a seller? Do I get a blank sheet from the registry of deed or clerk’s office? Thanks!

buy it, pay an atty for it, type it yourself. it’s just a form.

can you elaborate on this? wouldn’t you get a copy of deed, or a receipt of filing at closing or shortly thereafter?

I guess I want to know how the deed transfer process works. If I am purchasing a property, I want the deed…how does it come to me once a contract is signed (whether it is sub2, assuming the loan, or buying outright).

Thanks!

You do what mcwagner said (buy it, pay an atty for it, type it yourself), then file it with your county (where I live it is called the Cook County Recorder of Deeds so it’s pretty obvious).

oh. seller will create ( or have created by: atty, you, whoever) a Deed, that they will sign (usually at closing, if there is one) and give to you. when you sell or dispose of the property, you sign a new one for the next owner.
