Some people get confused about the differences between these three names: Los Cabos, Cabo San Lucas and San José Del Cabo. Let me explain!
Los Cabos is technically an area located at the tip of the 1,000-mile long Baja Peninsula and is two towns that are about 15 minutes apart: Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.
Between the two towns is an area called “The Corridor” –20 miles of highway with respected hotel and resort brands, delicious seaside restaurants and renowned golf courses.
What people generally think of as Cabo is actually called San Lucas. San Lucas is known more as the party town, it’s busier, more touristy, and has tons of different nightlife and restaurant options.
But Cabo is more than just a party destination; it also has gorgeous beaches, fun water-based activities, and mouth-watering seafood and Mexican cuisine.
It’s located on the harbor, so it is a very beautiful place to have a cocktail as the sun goes down.
Cabo San Lucas is also right along the shores of the Pacific Ocean and is most famous for its view of the incredible rock formations that create the famous “El Arco.”

At the other end of the peninsula is the old charming town of San José del Cabo. It’s quieter, more relaxed, and more traditional, than San Lucas. The charming town is centered around the Catedral de San José, which overlooks the main square. San José del Cabo is perfect for strolling, eating delicious Mexican food and admiring all the art, handmade art and locally made items. One of San José del Cabo’s best features is its weekly art walks.
And one last point to clarify –the Los Cabos area is also commonly referred to as “Land’s End.”
