What is the difference between Duet and Duplex houses?

Duet houses are under residential section and duplex under residential income.
Does anyone have a clear answer for the difference?
Thanks in advance. :biggrin

The term “Duet Houses” is specific to the continent of Africa.

I was un-able to find the specifics as to what it factually means.

I’ve never heard of Duet houses…sounds romantic!

A duplex is a single property with 2 dwelling units.

A duet house is similar to a semi-detached house, but there are two separate free-standing units on one stand. It could also be two dwelling units attached to one another on one stand. They can be sold under sectional title.

Thank you for the answers. :smile

sorry, haven’t been here in a while.

General answer is a duplex is two units side by side owned by the same owner including the land beneath both of them. There is no split ownership of the units.

A duet is two units side by side with each unit being owned separately including the land underneath each of them.
