What are the traits of a really good investor club meeting (in real life)?
Are most clubs bogus?
Do some clubs help newbies and others shun newbies?
How are meetings in California, and in NYC, what are those like? Is it all drudgery or is there any inspiration? Anybody doing anything big other then just making money?
I have been to meetings in Florida and Georgia. I never met the right people. Not much collaborating going on. Everyone seems petty and greedy. Just sorta crusty. Too many do it yourselfer types. I guess they taught me stuff from talking, but it seems like to really kick asswith real estate you need to make cool stuff happen and be generous to be a mover and shaker.
Are there any clubs that have active investors looking to hire newbies to do stuff for them?
Whats up with the daily spam robots posting all over the forums?
In the past I have been an admin/owner at a larger board. Until there is a software patch to fix the issue, you need to configure the controls so that an admin has to manually approve new accounts.
I’ve been to a couple of different real estate clubs in Los Angeles. Didn’t get much out to them. I think the online clubs like this one or Bigger Pockets are better.
I attended a meetup of a “real” REI club in Las Vegas once, but to be honest I also prefer to seek advice on online forums like this one or BP. Also the reason might be that I would be shy to ask for advice in real life, but it’s very simple to do so here. On the other hand, for some people and for “networking”, finding local contacts - it might be still worth it. I am sure many local investors and professionals still don’t use online tools.
