What are the nation's unemployed doing with their time off?

I heard this report on the radio this morning on my way to work.

It seems that a study was done on what the unemployed ARE and ARE NOT doing with their free time.

They ARE NOT: Looking for work, getting into shape (exercising), eating at home (cooking), or trying to improve their skills (education or trade skills)

They ARE: Watching more TV, Sleeping more, and Eating out more.

I’d like to say I’m surprised but I’m not.

According to that report, but not according to what I’ve seen.

Over the past few months I know quite a few people looking for work, conscientously. Granted, most of them found jobs already.
I know a few who are “looking” and they fit that report you mentioned. They whine that they can’t find a job, but then I asked them to explain how they go about looking for one and was appalled at the answers. Lazy and unmotivated are the words that came to mind.

From my personal experience of the people I know, the majority are really trying hard to find work, not loafing and getting fat.

The people I know receiveing unemployment fit this mold. And on the other hand the folks not receiving u/e are busy combing uselessly for the scraps of jobs still available.

It is very sad. But in this world there only 2 types of people, the ones that want a better life, with all the health, happiness :smile, riches etc…

And there are the ones that take what ever life throws at them.

I use to try to figure out why people are like that, but hey, that is just the way things are. You can’t force a grow man or woman, to have goals, and drive. That has to come from the inner part of themselves.
