I put in an offer on a piece of 2.6 acres that has been listed 3 times in the last two years. Its in upstate NY, low income area, no growth, etc.
Four guys bought it 14 years ago thinking casinos were going to be built here…who knows where they got that idea. It is an hour away from Niagara Falls.
Anyways, my offer was $8,500, the list was $11,900.00. Three of the owners accepted the offer. The fourth owner came back with a counter of $19,000.00! $7,100 above the list price lol, what is that? It wasn’t a mistake either.
What can I do but laugh…I walked away. If he comes around in two weeks I’ll reoffer $7,000.00.
I am reoffering $7,000.00, I know the partner who pays the tax bill each year is dying to get rid of it. I’m the only interested party…throw some more salt in his wound lol.
On a side note: to those of you who think good deals can’t be found on MLS…I just noticed a 1,750 sq ft house (fire damaged) with 110+ acres listed for under $40,000. Made some calls, the first interested party to the table offered 34,000.00, the idiot didn’t close the deal fast enough. The biddings up to $70,000…bidding on an MLS listing, thats unheard of around here lol. I’m putting in an offer of $85,000, burns me I didn’t look at the MLS yesterday.
