Vinyl siding

I’m writing an offer up on a property tomorrow that would need vinyl siding.

theres a lot of houses i see that could use it, but i dont really have a real price in my head when figuring the costs to bring the house to life.

How much does vinyl siding cost installed ?? How hard is it to DIY ?? any tips on to have it done cheaply but still quality/durable work ??

I guess their is a difference in how you want it to look, house flip would need to be higher quality. rental would just need to be durable.

If you call a siding contractor, they should give you a cost per squre foot or a way of determining it yourself. They have tricks of the trade to help you figure it out. You can also take some pictures of various houses in your area to the siding contractor and ask them for a rough estimates. They should be able to actually go to the house and give you a fre estimate.

I’ve seen siding advertised at a few places for about $45/square. I called someone who advertised a “special introductory price” for siding installation. I estimated 18 square for our building. The guy said he could probably do it for about $14K. I told him he could do someone else’s building for that much, but not ours.

I think if you were flipping, you caould get a very nice look with painting it. But if you were holding as a rental, siding would be better from a maintenance/cost perspective.

I took your advise and called a local place and ask for a ball park figure for a 1200 sq ft home. i was told 3K which was the # i had in my head for it.

Is vinyl well received in your area? Investors around here assume that if you install vinyl siding, you are covering up damage.

In some areas, buyers seem to like it, and in others, nobody wants it.

I’m in michigan and it is needed. every house i look at that doesn’t have aluminum, vinyl siding or isn’t all brick looks run down. I guess paint doesn’t hold up to the harder winters ??? i don’t know but i know that vinyl sure does. + it gives more insulation so its favorable up here.
