Using fictitious names on letters.

The idea behind a Mary letter is to send out a personalized letter signed by Mary, who is our ““partner””… but not really.

Is there any legal consequence to this?

Does this mean i can make up names for some of my other letters as well?

thanks in advance for all your help!

There is no legal restraints as far as I know. Fictitious names like this are used all of the time. I got a letter from the VA a few months back with ‘Christine’ as the name of the contact person. Turns out, ‘Christine’ is fictitious name this particular office used for identification.

When I got out of the army I went to work for a company who’s business card had my ‘bosses’ name on it until I passed the 90 day mark to get my own. My ‘boss’ was Nancy Tanner. This was also a tracking device so the company new where my card was given…Nancy Tanner was code for Nashville Tennessee. Every city had a different office director who’s first initial in their first and last name was the same as the city and state they were in.

So I see nothing wrong or illegal with ‘Mary’ letters. But if you are that concerned, contact an attorney and ask. Something like that should be easy enough to answer by phone.

Every time I go into a McDonald’s it just pisses me off that Ronald isn’t there…

And Jack from Jack in the box doesn’t look anything like he does on those commercials… His head is a little bigger in person…

And I have a whole bunch of lizards and not one of those damn things can talk, I don’t know how Geico gets them to, maybe free insurance or somethng…
