Title Researches and Cost?

How dose an investor get around having to pay for a bunch of title researches on properties (like auctioned properties) knowing that there is a high chance that he may not get the property because the auction was canceled or the owner had redeemed or what ever other reason, the investor wasn’t able to obtain the property?

Typically will a title agent do a title research on a property like a auctioned property for free or little money? I would think they would not be inclined to do so.

However, what has been the experience of this group?
