tax auctions

I’ve been looking at possibly doing some investing using tax auctions in Texas. Several of the sites I have been on warn that clear titles may not be availalbe on properties sold at these auctions if the property is not redeemed. Does anyone have experience with this?

Howdy Mathguy:

It is simple actually. Any liens where the owner borrowed money will be inferior to tax liens. Other liens will stay with the property. Liens like from the City where weeds were cut, IRS liens, and ant other govt. liens. Judgments against the owner I am unsure of from retail merchants and the like. I believe they stay with the property as well. Best to get a title policy or at least do a title search and get a professional opinion about each lien. Actually a title policy is hard to get because the owner has the right to redeem the property. For sure do your homework.
