Suggestion for Moderator(s)

I have posted 2 times on this forum and both times it has been removed, now the thing is I have NO CLUE why! If you guys would PLEASE notify the posters when this happens and tell us why! then we would not post that type of post if it isn’t allowed. I enjoy this forum and get alot of info here but it is frustrating when you post here and it is moved or removed and you are not notified and then you spend too much wasted time trying to figure out what is going on. :banghead

The Forum rules are pretty clear and outline what can and cannot be posted. It is the responsibility of the member to read, understand and adhere to the rules. If a post violates them and is deleted it should not be a surprise.

It is not the responsibility of the Moderator to notify you before modification/deletion.

Apparently, your post(s) violated part of the Forum rules and was deleted.

Please take a few moments to read them before making any further posts.

Thanks.

super,

Including this post, you have seven posts in this forum. You may have had a couple of posts deleted for violating the forum rules, but all of your posts are not being targeted for deletion as you imply.

I remember seeing one of your posts that was an overt solicitation for services, so I am not surprised that that one may be one of the two that were deleted. If you also duplicate your posts in another forum, the duplicate may be deleted. So if you duplicated an advertisement for services, both posts were probably deleted.

The forum rules are pinned as the first topic in each forum.

I did not think the posts were against the post rules, that’s what I’m trying to say. They should at least let us know when they delete a post and tell us what we violated so we don’t do it again. I wouldn’t post if I thought it’s against the rules! I don’t think it would be that much of an effort to do that on thier part. :shocked

I don't think it would be that much of an effort to do that on thier part.

Wow, do you want them to type the post for you, too?

They volunteer their time to moderate the forums and I would not expect them to tell everyone why their post has been changed or deleted. If you cannot figure it out for yourself…

What was in the body of the posts that were deleted? What were you requesting, discussing, etc? What did you type?

I saw what I did wrong now, I was wrong and I admit it :anon Moderator please remove me from the forum registration. I didn’t know what I did and I was just asking to find out so I wouldn’t do it agian, I didn’t want to start a verbal war! I don’t want to be a member where they jump your ass as quickly as this forum does either. You have a great forum here but if you cannot ask questions without getting treated like a third grader then there’s no reason to be here.

LOL… Seriously dude? I am a moderater elsewhere and I agree with MD… moderators are not responsible for telling people why their posts are against forum rules, it’s your responisibility to read the guidelines.

I am sure this is going to piss off some… But I have to agree that at times it is difficult to give advice without self promotion… I get the fact that it is not allowed but some of the questions just beg for an answer that is promotion…

With this said I also have to say that I would rather not give advice when giving it breaks the rules if it means I have to be banned… And trust me I am close… Not on purpose but that doesnt matter. Too bad for the guy or gal who actually requested the info…

Maybe a forum topic for the deleted posts… so we viewers can decide…

I had to modify the responce… Moderators do get paid… If nothing else, their egos get fed… I think what I see from most is right on… Some are a little neponeonic ( spelling sorry). Some like Locke arent here enough…

I actually have a forum for investors… AND NO I am not giving anyone the website… Those of you who know already… know…And I can say it is a pain to find good quality people to run the board… And although they dont get paid, they do get paid…

If you think about it just the fact that you can google their name and their relevance is high is payment… Most have something to sell and the higher the google the more they sell… Some do use a screen name other than their own and their payment must be the payment of giving… Which we all should be greatful for…

Anyway… I hope the powers dont make this my last post…

I am not a moderator, so I have no first hand knowledge of any reason behind deleting your posts. A month ago, when you asked why your posts were deleted, I tried to tell you what I thought. I told you that soliciting services is a violation of the forum rules and, in my opinion, that was why your post was deleted.

I did not treat you like a third grader. I simply answered your question with my objective opinion. If you felt that I gave you a “jump your ass” response, then you will probably be happier at another website.

Too bad for the guy or gal who actually requested the info...

Michael,

We have a feature known as PM (private messaging). Use of this feature will eliminate the incidental self advertising that occurs when you are “just trying to get that guy or gal the info”. :rolleyes

Youre right… Wierd but that does seem like selling…

Way back when this site first started up, the owner of the site and I were talking about this new site. Since I Moderated on another creative real estate discussion board at that time, when I was told that a poster could place their web site in their signature, my response was I did not think it was a good idea.

My feelings were it would promote “Board Hustling” by certain posters if they were selling something. Or where is the line in the sand drawn between the signature advertising and the posting advertising, sort of well I can slip this one in after all it is allowed in my signature. I did not win this one as is shown in a posters signature.

DaveT and I go way back when he was a Moderator on a board we were on along with Roger (Raj), they both resigned as Moderators and when they were asked to moderate on this board they declined, much to my dismay as in both cases because they are both excellent posters and very knowledgeable in their respective fields.

For all you posters who have had some of their posts deleted and blame everyone but yourselves when you get caught doing it, I say learn how to post so other posters will contact you for your help, without coming out blatantly and saying what you are really after…sales of some kind.

Did I mention I was coming out with a new course on how to post on a creative real estate discussion board for gathering business without having your posts deleted and how it is really accomplished? :rolleyes

Moderators are doing a great job.

It’s better to be militant than starting to allow the trash that is the internet to crawl in and contaminate the forums, which often happens in many many forums where things go unregulated.

If the post is aggregious enough to remove and I have time, I usually send a PM to the violator. If it is outrageously blatant, I just remove it. It it is really over the top (spam, porn, cigarette ads, viagra ads, etc.), I remove it AND delete the user’s account.

Keith

If a person can’t follow the simple forum rules, they probably are not going to make it in the real estate business.

Mike

Mike you cant group those that like playing outside the lines within the failure group… I bet if added up there are more conformist who fail than people who push the envelope…

Touch a nerve, Michael…? LOL

Keith

Kieth…

Are you kidding me… I learned a long time ago to stop worrying about what people thought and just go for it… At times there is too much generalization in comments is all.

Besides I have two orders in for Lockes Next course…And I have hired him as a ghost writer in the mean time…

…so we’ve noticed.
