What is the easiest way to check the status of the title after you get a signed contract?

I’ve :smiley: heard that you should get a Title committment from a title company, and that there is no cost for this? If so, what do you tell the title company when they try to schedule closing and sell you title insurance?

What’s the easiest, fastest, and cheapest way you’ve found to check the title?
