Have you guys seen those folks on Ebay who are subdividing & selling worthless land? Say you buy 1000 acres for $100 an acre in far Southwest or West Texas, where there is nothing but tumbleweeds, rocks and dirt…and maybe a rare hint of grass…and some guys are taking that land, and selling it for $200-$300 an acre on Ebay in 5-10 acre “ranchland” tracts! Crazy, eh? I guess it’s like selling Florida swampland - there is a sucker everywhere
Seems deceptive and I wouldn’t feel to great about it. I definitely wouldn’t do that myself.
well it’s worthless today, but 10 or 20 years from now, when the population is like 600 million - they’ll probably be cities there!!!
shut up! i bought 50 acres!!!
;D
:-\
:o
That type of thing has been going on since they invented land.
I recently purchased a residential lot from a lady who had never seen it. Her mother (who had also never seen the property) bought it at a state fair in Kansas circa 1950. The property is in Texas.
Have you ever seen it? LOL
Is it actually a decent lot?
I’ve seen it and sold it to someone who can actually use it.
It depends on what you call decent.
You should check out the huge land auctions that roll into large metro cities once a year. Before I went to one in San Diego, I was checking out the parcel numbers to find out how much the auction house had bought the land for (access through my title rep). I was amazed to watch people bid up the price of $4k lots up over $20k, of course they offered financing at “reasonable rates”. One parcel in the desert went for $90k :shocked.
Of course, I was not one of the lucky winners that day. Like someone said earlier, the sell of useless land goes back a long way.
Side note: check out the gold mining rights for sale on ebay. Dust of your gold panning tin. I wouldn’t be suprised to see Eric Estrada dressed up like a 49er pitching mining rights early Saturday morning.
thanks
we also bought off ebay… kind of for the heck of it
one parcel we pd $425 for & someone else approached us & bought it for $900 about 18 mo later (beats a savings account! :biggrin)
& another 20 acres we bought in NE AZ we figured was next to nothing is actually 1 mile from a small community & 15 miles south of a town that will be exploding soon & the reason I know it will explode is cuz my son & son-in-law who are surveyors will be subdidviding for a big developer… so we’ll just hold onto are little piece of dirt
but I personally have issues with selling it on ebay unless I have real pics & real details
by the way if anyone knows of a 3/2 double wide for sale (newer than 1998) within 400 miles of Prescott please email me as we are buying
fixer uppers are fine cheap is great!
