How can I stop homes from going into forclosure, if the home is 3-4 months behind?
Work out a forebearance plan with the lender. Communication with the lender is paramount to getting 'er done. Be completely upfront with them about the problems you’re having and sell them on the idea that you’ll get it all together.

David is absolutely right. Call the lender…they really don’t want the house…they just want their money and they will work with you.
