slab or pier and beam? Whats the difference and how can you tell? :argue

These are two different kinds of foundations.

Slab is concrete that is poured directly on the ground, then the building is built directly on top.

Pier and beam has a basement or a crawl space. In other words, you can go underneath the building.

You can tell the difference because in a pier and beam house there will be a crawl space access and ventilation. In most cases, in a pier and beam, you will need to walk up several steps to get to the front door. In many instances with slab, this is not the case.
