Should I?

I recently left my job and am tired of working for other people. We have moved alot with my job and have rented at every spot. I see that I was making the payment for these people. I now live in the central US with no depts. My wife ordered Carleton’s course about 5 yrs ago and we have pulled it out and blown the dust off it. We are thinking about making this our full time job. I am a bit sceptical.
Should I do this? Also has anything changed in the last 5 yrs?

Hey,
Should you do this? Why not?
Has anything changed in the last 5 years? You Haven’t changed in the last 5 years and that apparently is a problem. Read your course. Read all the posts and info available on this site. Ask questions, get your answers and get about making changes in your life. You can do it.
Peace,
Richard

Yes you should do it.
The full time status migh not come right away depending on you and your market. GiveCarelton’s way a shot. It works for me.

Jeff

My Market? (remember I just started this today). One thing that I see in this area is all these 3 bedroom 2 bath on .2 lots going up everywhere, and some neighborhood’s are 5 yrs old. My question is what opportunity do you see is all this and is this going on in your area.

…ummmm…that’s not what he meant.

What part of the REI world interests you? What do you want to be if you grow up? LOL

Do you want to ‘flip’?..wholesale? …fix and retail?..fix and hold as rentals? REI is a big field!

Where do you live? If you buy a house to hold, what sort of rent can you expect? Can you buy below retail or is your market overheated?

Keith

I would like to hold and rent, and also do some flips.
I am paying $800 in rent right now, I have moved 10 times in 13 years.
I am living in the Springfield Mo. area.

Buy a duplex and live in one side. Get used to having tennents.
It is a great way to get started. Read everything you can and when you are ready buy another primary and rent out the other side. You now have your first full fledged rental.
Good Luck

Thanks.
We have thought about this a lot. We are still thinking about doing this, after getting thru our training.
The management side of this is not a concern, I have been dealing with people for 15 years now

This can be done anywhere! Carlton’s Course after I reviewed it last week finaly Is basic training which is what it sounds like you are looking for. The best advice I could give is to do what you do best and to OUTSOURCE THE REST.
