Short Sales and Title Companies??

I just want to clearify this.

When doing a short sale, does the bank usually choose the title company to go through? Or is this the choice of the buyer?

If this is the “usually” is the choice of the buyer, how about when the lender of the property is working with their own real estate broker? In some cases I know the lenders to work with their own RE brokers in a given area and wanted to know if they have their own Title Companies they work with as well? Is this customary??
