Has anyone tried Rich Dad Personal Coaching? I credit Robert Kiyosaki and his books with getting me started with real estate and I was thinking of signing up for a personal coach. The only problem is the price is pretty steep. I can’t remember the exact numbers, but I believe they wanted $4299 for a year of coaching or around $3799 for six months. I thought this might be a good idea since I’m just starting out, but I wanted to find out if anyone else here had participated in program. Thanks.

I have not, but I believe that real estate is a local business. If your coach is not in your town, his advice will not be as good as a person with local knowledge. Kiyosaki is good inspirationally, but the specifics of real estate depends on where you are. For instance in Houston Texas where I am, the house must have a 2 car garage or you are dead in the water. In Virginia, houses rent and sell quite well without them. A coach in New York City may not have a clue about that. He may also not know the difference between an $80k house on Eldredge St and an $80k house on Crane St.
I guess your coach could just be there to tell you directionally what you should do (2 houses versus a duplex etc.) but I would go to my local real estate investors club meeting and find a mentor there. He will be able to help you with local knowledge and cost you nothing more than a membership. He will also be able to give you advice on which contractors to use and what approach to marketing works in your town.
Just my 2 cents.
Thanks for the info. I think that’s solid advice. I have been debating on whether to go out to a Washington D.C. area real estate investors club. I might as well go check it out, couldn’t hurt, and all I’ll pay is that membership fee like you said. Thanks again.
