REO and utilities turned off

Hi,

Does anyone with experience buying REOs have any recommendations as to what to do if the utilities have been turned off and you need to be able to have them turned on to do a complete inspection? Are there any ways to workaround this issue?

Thanks in advance.
Rafael

Try to get your utility provider to transfer your personal home service to the REO address without giving them a date to disconnect yours. When the inspectors finish the work, cancel the transfer request. This works in my area.

Typically utility companies are aware of this type of situations, as are the banks that own the properties. Request that the listing agent get the utilities turned on and it can usually be done. Utility companies here allow them to be turned on briefly for an inspection no problem usually.
