I am a newbie looking for a good way to verify what I can charge in rents after I buy a single family house in my area. I have been going through my local news paper classified, but the area I am interested in dose not seem to be well represented, so I am not sure what I will be able to charge. Any recommendations on other sources of this information in or around Corpus Christi TX would be greatly appreciated.

I would try calling SEVERAL real estate brokers in the area and asking their opinions. Try to focus on brokerages which also offer property management services–these guys typically have a decent grip on market rents.
Talking to multiple “experts” helps paint a better overall picture of your market–I’ve found that some are too conservative and others too aggressive, so relying on any one broker might prove misinformative and, in the long run, costly.
