Rental Scams

How has the rental scams frequently happening today been affecting you and your business? Tenants are now more guarded.

The only difference I’m seeing is that tenants are worried that the house will be foreclosed on.

They ask; I tell them no danger, and they accept that as sufficient.

There have been a few cases of con men renting out properties that they don’t own. The tenants still don’t verify that the LL owns the house. In fact, in some cases, I don’t own the house. I tell them that and they don’t even seem to notice it.

To be honest I’m having much more trouble finding employed, desirable tenants who are both able to pay and likely to pay, than having trouble with tenants thinking I’m going to scam them. There are a lot of unemployed people out there, and a lot of tenants packing more people under roof, driving down demand. I have one rental property that’s been vacant for five months and counting, makes me crazy.
I haven’t had a lot of friction from tenants worrying about scams, I think landlords are more likely to be scammed by tenants than vice versa.
Weather the storm, my friends. Weather the storm.
