Regular Website Vs Word Press Blog Site

Ok guys,

I want to change my website ( www.757webuyhouses.com ) it an ok site but, after read alot about website I think I need a change. I’m looking to use a Word Press Blog site instead of your regular website. Now, I know squeeze page are a must and I’m working on that also. I just like to get everyone opinion about a regular website vs Word Press blog site( use as a website) Oh, can you put in seller contact info in a blog site (ex. home info, payments)?

Thanks in Advance

I used to think it didn’t matter, but From what I hear wordpress is very attractive to google. However, I wouldn’t use wordpress.com and host it on their server. I would host it no my own server. You can use Fantastico and wordpress.org

Also, if you use wordpress.com you can’t put any squeeze page web forms on the blog because of the way their system reacts to the javascript (coding)

However, if you host it on your own server, you can do that without problem. I set up my site on wordrpess and I have a squeeze page webform as well. You can check out the site in my signature block.

It’s really about how you are bringing traffic to the site that matters. A regular website versus wordpress doesn’t guarantee you more traffic. The only variable that guarantees you more traffic is you and your marketing/seo (search engine optimization) abilities.

Here is what you need to do if you want to set up wordpress on your own server:

  1. Go to GoDaddy.com, Hostgator, Hostmonster, or ixwebhosting and get hosting.

  2. In your back office, there should be something called…Fantastico De Luxe. It will likely be under the services/software section.

  3. Go to blogs and choose wordpress

  4. Click New Installation and install it on your domain (Maybe 757webuyhouses.com)

  5. Create your username and password for admin access to your wordpress blog.

  6. Click Install Wordpress.

That’s it!

Then go to wordpress.org and get all the plugins/themes and support that you want!

Hope that helps.

I started using a Wordpress site a few weeks ago. I’m learning how to manage and set it from a real estate guy and web guru who has a very high Google page rank in our market. But I still have a lot to learn Bluehost has a very easy Wordpress friendly set up. But the set up can be done on any hosting site. The learning curve challenge with WordPress is finding the right plug-ins to give you the functionality and SEO you need. Fortunately I have someone guiding me through this.
Good Luck

Thank Guys,

I think I will try a Word Press blog site for my website for my “We buy houses” business. I’m just starting to learn how use blogs and this WEB 2.0 stuff. Hey, check out my newest and greatest blog squeeze page setup www.sellhomenewportnews.com . Tell me what you think? Lamar, this is EJ we chatted on twitter. Bob Larsen, great site! I like your blog.

Hey Harris,

Format looks good, but content needs to be worked on a little. The red title for example is just there… it does nothing… try to come up with more powerful, moving headline… for example “If you want your house SOLD by this time tomorrow, then this letter is for you…”

Dear [whatever (it does matter, I’m lazy to think of something)],

You read that right. I buy [city name] houses, and I can buy yours in 24 hours if needed. bla bla bla… I don’t really care for their condition, in fact, the worse the condition is the better because it gives my crew something to do. (just swagging it here, but the idea is to not make them feel embarrassed to call if the house in bad shape).

bla bla bla…

Here is what I need you to do. If you scroll down, you will see a request form. fill it out to the best of your ability, and I will take it from there. The information you will provide me will help speed up the process. Once you submit the information, I will start working on your house and I will give you a call to schedule a time to meet and buy the house from you. Sounds good? Great! lets get started…"

Don’t copy it letter for letter, again I just swagged it. The main idea is to make them feel that the solution is a click away. You can then decide if it is a good deal or not…

I would advise against it. Your most power asset in any business is credibility. People want to do business with people they feel are legit and professional. A regular website gives you credibility. A word press blog site screams “fly by night” operation. Web hosting is so dirt cheap, why not just spend the money investing in your business?

Thanks Fadi, I going to rework my content great nuggets. Xpandergt, I think you maybe right about that I will keep the website www.757webuyhouses.com.

Thanks Guys

Sorry but I disagree:

  1. Using blog software does not mean it is a blog. It is simply a content management software. In his case, he is not using it as a blog at all.
  2. His format is a sales letter format, which works and works well if the sales letter is powerful. He does need to back it up with testimonials, but since he has none, he needs to start collecting them and adding them
  3. If he does blog and writes articles, it gives me extra credibility not less. It shows knowledge, and seriousness. Not a fly by oversized post card online. We’re beyond static websites and the next 5 years, you will see major changes and direction
  4. Search engines LOVE blogs and would index them daily giving him good organic search ranking, however he would need to use good SEO practices and needs to write viable content

However, again, he is using the blog software as plain content management and only has a sales letter, which is very powerful method used by marketers all the time

Hope this helps

I completely agree with fadi. using wordpress software for your site does not make it a “blog” and is very flexible on the looks. Many templates out there and many ways to customize it. It’s so simple to get a great looking webpage up using wordpress blog software that it’s a waste of time building a site yourself. I program for a living and I’m of this opinion.

So how you would step by step create a non blog real estate site using wordpress?

All I have to say about investor websites are that they are over rated… Rather then spending hours on a site spend hours finding deals and doing deals

Correct. Do a bunch of deals then just hire an experienced company to get your internet marketing set up or something. Will be way more valuable.

I agree with fadi. “Things they are a changing” and just having a website is not enough anymore.
Maintainig a blog may be more work but ithe added benefits are tremendous. (cha ching) Besides having so much pull with Google ranking, blogs are such a great tool for building relationships and for letting people know that you are staying current (which means that you better stay current) If you are serious about taking advantage of all the online marketing benefits, then I believe you shouldn’t be chosing between the two but that you should be doing them both along with building backlinks with articles, creating videos, press releases, etc. Best wishes

Check out Fadi’s site and he describes what you need. It basically comes down to the following.

1and1.com for hosting
register a domain name (i use godaddy)
install wordpress.org on your host
use a template to make it look nice. (there are templates for squeeze pages, selling houses, etc…)
Then fill it with content and information.
