Is there anyone who has negotiated lowering past due proerty taxes for a proerty they are interested in.
Here is the scenario:
Property owner owes 48k in past due taxes. Appraised at 93k by appraisal district
Property will go to County Tax Lien Auction on 12/1
She wants to sell before auction to at least walk out of the house with some cash
If anyone has succesfully reduced taxes with the authorities or has another strategy idea I need to hear it ASAP
Never heard of it. Their debt is well secured and they are going to get their money. Why should they reduce the amount? The goodness of their heart? Government has a heart?
You can sometimes reduce taxes by appealing the appraisal, but that isn’t going to be retroactive. It will only reduce the amount of tax due in the future. If they will give you the reduction in appraisal, which they sure don’t like to do.
My thought is that the result of the tax lien auction, if the property is bid on, will be far below the amount of the tax due.
