Realtor Roadblocks on Short Sales

Not sure about everyone else here, but there is a lot of listings in my area that are short sales. I originally tried to contact the homeowner first but the Realtors were mostly aggitated and I didn’t get anywhere, so then I approached the Realtors. Well, I’m not getting anywhere this way either. Most are very territorial and won’t even talk to me. I explain I’m a cash buyer and want to put in an offer and will pay them on the purchase AND resale. My only contingency is we do the negotiation for the short sale. Well, I get a lot of closed doors.

Anyone have some ideas on how to get past the roadblocks?

Unless the realtor specializes in short sales (which is not very common) I don’t understand why they would not be more cooperative. In most cases, the realtor gets paid for just playing the role of realtor. They should be happy that someone with your experience is willing to do all the heavy lifting.

You may need to dig deeper and find out if the realtor understand the entire short sale process and what his/her role will be.

Actually these home are all short sales the Realtor is negotiating. A LOT of the Realtors in my area negotiate shorts and THOSE realtors don’t want to talk to me. The less experienced Realtors are ALWAYS open to talking to me.

What happens a lot of the times too is they might get a deal in place and then because of the wait, it falls through and heads to the auction block.
