Hi folks, can i get some feedback for general labor, non professional?
I was thinking $20 /hr. Is this fair? Doing tasks like laying tile, installing plumbing. $15/hr for paint and stripping wallpaper etc. and $10 /hr for trash removal leaves, weeds etc.
My suggestion is to NEVER pay by the hour, pay by the job. Something like taking wallpaper down in a kitchen, if it takes a day for your person to do, maybe $125 is a good price. Or even $100. Up to you, but I know from experience that when you hire somebody by the hour it ALWAYS takes longer. ALWAYS!
Labor prices vary WIDELY from state to state and even from county to county. Prices from my county to Fairfield county (which is closer to NYC and has a lot of wealthy individuals) would probably vary by 50% or more and its only a matter of 40-50 miles. Consult some local rehabbers and see what they are paying. I agree on the by the job not by the hour mentality as well, good idea.
