Some simple guidelines to protect yourself when entering into financing transactions.

  • Do not deal with lenders outside the United States.

  • Do not send money to anyone in advance to obtain a loan.

  • Use your own attorney or a neutral third party for all financial transactions.

  • Ask for references and contact them independently.

Also, it doesn’t hurt to get referrals from people at your local REIA meeting.
