Hi, are there any particular sites where I can get the value of properties, if it matters I am in the NY area, thanks.
http://www.electronicappraiser.com/
is one of a number of sites that are available for getting approximate values. However, I would not value the input from them very much. Use them only as a ball park figure.
The only true way to get a more solid value is to have an appraiser run comps.
Good Luck.
Did you look at your state’s assessment DB? I know in MD, there have their SDAT database where you can look and see how much home values sold in a certain area. This is a pretty good indication. There is also another free website, but the name escapes me right now. If I remember I’ll post it.
Ok. I found it. www.zillow.com. I think there was already a discussion on this website. The generally consensus seems to be that their estimates are too high.
But it’s a starting point. I would definetly try to find your state/county’s property assessments database though.
The states property assesment site is not going to give appraisal value. It will only give taxable value which in most cases is way off of the appraised value.
That site is http://www.netronline.com/frameset.asp?StateID=34
