I send out a lot of letters each week. I wanna make this process as fast and as cheap as possible.
I saw pre-stamped envelopes on usps.com, but I don’t wanna get those, because if my printer messes them up, its a waste of money.
Is there a program that I can use to print stamps directly on the envelopes? It would be much faster than buying stamps at the post office and putting them on manually every time.
I TOTALLY DISAGREE! Hand placed stamp are proven to increase response rates. Also, try placing them a bit off center (tilted). Sounds crazy, but it works.
The more mechanized it looks the more it looks like junk mail or another bill (and if you’re mailing to them it means they probably have way more bills than they want to see at this point). I agree with chilipepper, spend the extra few cents and few seconds and handstick regular stamps.
For direct mail, USPS purchased stamps are the way to go for letters. Disguise the envelope like it’s a letter from grandma as best as possible. With postcards, it doesn’t matter what kind of postage you use because it’s easily recognizable as something from a commercial enterprise AKA junk mail. I use regular stamps (American Flag only!) for direct mailing letters and a postage meter for everything else. No reason to spend a penny more than necessary just to pay bills.
