I have been looking at properties in Omaha, NE. The market seems prime for buy/hold opportunities. Are any of you currently in Omaha or looking there? Just looking for some confirmation that this area is what I think it is and that I am not heading for trouble. Thanks.

I was in Omaha back in May, they had trouble hosting a 22k convention with Warren Buffet, I’m not surprised you’re not getting much feedback as there probably aren’t that many people here that are from that area.
Still, Warren Buffet still lives there so it can’t be all that bad.

Yes, I picked up a few B shares a couple of years ago. Pretty good convention, Warren does go on for quite a while. Not too much else to do in Omaha though, I stayed an extra day or so, but if I ever go again, I’d just leave Sunday. Bill Gates was also there, but he wasn’t a big a draw as Warren.
Actually the mutual funds I picked up at the same time are actually doing better than the Berkshire shares, but it was somewhat ironic about how Warren goes on about management fees yet I made much more in those other funds than Berkshire did. Oh well, maybe it’ll break out one of these days. It did sorta go from around 3k to about 3800 overnight, but has now dropped down to around 3650. They had a very good year last year too, no major hurricanes.
