I’m looking into getting some business cards printed up sometime here in the next couple months and I was wondering who has them, what they look like, and how many you go through per month.
As an aside, how does one choose a business name? DO you have to get it approved by somebody or pay a fee? How does that work?
• Use a large font catcher phrase across the top like, I Buy Real Estate, or what ever it is you do.
• Make sure you use the back of the card. Put a list of areas of expertise on the back like, Foreclosures, Short Sales, Fast Close, 100% Financed, Vacant Houses
• Put a small note at the bottom of the card that says “Cash Paid for Referrals”
As for a business name, you will need to register your LLC name in your state. They will let you choose your name if it is not already taken….LLC cost for my state is $105/LLC
I disagree with the “Use the back of the card” If you want to use the back of the card make the back the same as the front… Otherwise leave it blank to write on… Cute girls number if nothing else…
I’ve been looking into forming an LLC as the folks I’ve been talking to say that before I even start thinking about making my first deal, I need to set up an some type of entity.
It’s amazing, all the guru courses out there, ebooks, seminars etc., I’ve yet to find something that details the steps needed in order to build a team and secure assets. Or, maybe I’m missing something?
Anyways, it’s probably apparent by now that I’m a noobie, but if my investing interests are going to focus on short sales and wholesaling, would forming a single member LLC be a wise move?
I just chose several names and checked to see if they were available with the South Carolina Secretary of State’s office. I had to go through a few names before finding one that wasn’t taken. If it helps your card design, my business card is in the Marketing folder of our Yahoo Group at:
I use the ugly cards (the one posted at the link above) to give to sellers and buyers but use more elegant ones to give to private lenders and for use at formal business meetings.
If you are going to be doing short sales and wholesaling then I would definitely say to form a single member LLC before you write the paperwork for your 1st deal. It is just another layer of asset/liability protection.
It is very easy to get an LLC. Go to your local “Office of the Secretary of State” webpage. There should be a link to Business Entities, forms, FAQ, etc. Then find the Limited Liability Company Form. Print it out, complete the form, and mail it in with the respective fee. In my state it is $105/LLC.
The form is very short and they are very helpful if you have any questions. Just make sure you let your accountant know that you formed an LLC once you are done.
On another note: I love being part of discussion forums because sometimes you get two different opinions on one topic.
“Not using the back of a business card is like setting up a bandit sign in the middle of a busy intersection and only having your ad on one side of the sign”.
In my opinion ( and one very successful Guru’s), put valuable advertising information on the back or your business cards. It will be different that everyone else’s and gives your prospects a better idea of what you do.
Well I hope everyone takes this very successful Guru’s advice and puts this valuable information on there cards, this way mine will be different and not theirs.
In my opinion if you do not capture the potential client immediately with your marketing message the client will never read any farther. I would rather have the client call me, then let them sell me on why I should buy their house. Going into detail except you buy houses on a business card, until you know what your clients needs are, has the possibility of turning sellers off.
Also, why would you set up Bandit Signs in a busy intersection rather than place them in a demographically researched area where you have the greatest potential of having sellers call you?
Of course this is only my opinion and I have purchased hundreds of houses doing it this way.
John… I just designed new business cards… I was thinking heck why stop at just using the front and back I am going to print my message on all six sides… This way all I have to do is send my business card along with the contract and with those sticky “sign here” arrows.
Great that you are patriotic and put the Declaration of Independence on the top and sides of your cards it looks great there.
You may stand a chance of buying one of the politicians who does not make in the upcoming elections house.
Thinking about putting up a Hall of Fame web site with all those successful gurus who print on the sides and top of their cards, you are in the running…
