Did anyone else see this?? :shocked A friend of mine sent this to me. What a dipshi&T
How does this solve any underline problems? you rent for 2400 a month in ohio?? I don’t know the market there, but that sure sounds expensive, maybe you should rent some place for 500 a month??

Well hopefully this bleeding heart sherriff will get canned. Then his deputies can evict him! Or better yet, Have him spend a little time in the pokey with all criminals he helped put there. Just another entitlement mentality that’s being perpetuated in this country.
This is EXACTLY the type of risk to our rental businesses that I have been talking about. You’ll note in the article that this idiot sheriff sent a letter to the governor asking for a moratorium on evictions during the winter. We already have a winter moratorium on shutting off natural gas here in Ohio. So, what do tenants do? They have the gas turned on just before winter and then don’t pay another bill because their gas can’t be shut off!!!
If this insane eviction moratorium happens to landlords, we will all be out of business within a couple of months!!!
Mike
I think that if the state passes a law like that they should provide assistance to help provide housing for the deadbeats. They can’t expect the landlords to basically pay for the rent for 5 months. If a tenant is TRULY down & out, they can collect unemplyment, welfare and Section 8. Let Section 8 (taxpayers) pay for these deadbeats. Why should landlords have to pay twice to keep deadbeats afloat. Their taxes already contribute to Section 8 funding. That would be my argument. Section 8 provides housing assistance. The honest truth is that there are jobs out there. They may not pay well or be a little “degrading” but you can stand on your own 2 feet. That’s where the govt. fails. If they go to unemployment office looking for a check, and they were handed an application for Mcdonalds instead and were told to come back if they don’t get hired, there’d be a real short line at the unemployment office.
we are going to see more of this type of stuff. In the north/north east this seems more common.
In my market we have seen the time it takes to evict increase because of courts being backed up.
It would appear that if it becomes common, it would be a decent idea to use Section 8. The tenants may not pay their portion, but at least you’re getting the bulk of the rent. As long as paying rent is the only problem, Section 8 seems like a decent option. If the govt. wants to keep people from getting evicted, they can pay for it. :beer
The tenants may not pay their portion, but at least you're getting the bulk of the rent.
The problem with this idea is that the tenant’s portion of the rent often IS your cash flow. So, if the tenant doesn’t pay, you have no cash flow. Since my business supports me, if all my tenants were Section 8 and the Section 8 tenants stopped paying their portion of the rent, I wouldn’t be eating.
Mike
I hear you on that Mike, but if people don’t pay at all and you can’t kick 'em out, then you have nothing until the better weather changes. If this were to become a law, then I think you’ll see a lot of landlords either sell or let their properties go into foreclosure. You’d have a lot of eyesores in the city. I still believe that the vast majority of WELL SCREENED people will pay their rent. But a law (if it becomes one) would encourage entitlement mentality and financial reckless behavior if people know they can get away with it.
if i cant kick them out I would rather get some or most of the rent rather than nothing at all and them still live in my house
