Oh mann, where should I start? I have been reading a ton of real estate books and they all explain the theory behind Foreclosures/Short Sales and being a LandLord. They all LACK something in common: “How do I APPLY this KNOWLEDGE?”

  • I see foreclosure/pre-foreclose websites everywhere, but once i see a property i want to buy “How do I go about getting it?”

  • How do I find a SS? I see there’s a company “above” this forum, but they’re number doesn’t work…another gimmic I guess? (PlatinumReic.com) Are there any other sites / companies that’ll do the same?

I was referred to a real estate Investing Group, the people are friendly, but don’t really cater to beginners. I believe in the real estate investing theory, so much that I sold my second home to have the “capital” to start. But, unfortunately, I need guidance. Are there Classes/courses that I can take? Willing to travel ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. What about a mentor? Are there any groups that’ll charge to become a personal mentor?

Tony,

Welcome to the wonderful world of real estate investing. Yes, there is lots to learn. I wouldn’t start with short sales unless someone with experience is teaching you.

My suggestion is to get involved with your local REI groups sounds like you may have already. Stay involved. Decide what type of investing you want to do, wholesale, rehabbing, landlord, etc. and then find a good course to start with. I like Vena Jones Cox and Steve Cook for wholesaling.

I think most every investor will tell you they are always spending money on courses and education. I know I do.

What part of the country are you planning on starting?

GooD Luck! :beer

I currently own LAND in NC, but I live in the DC/Maryland area. I am free to travel as necessary for investing. I just moved to this area from Virginia. I’ll do most of my work where I live, but not limited to it.
