My wife and I spent last weekend at a 3 day Real Estate investing course put on by Rich Dad Education / Wealth Intelligence Academy. The information we obtained was great but unfortunately it was somewhat basic information. We took the opportunity to “invest in our education” and enroll in their advanced training. We did pick classes that we were interested in but chose a package that did not include a mentor. We are now beginning to think that we might want a mentor. The only thing holding up back is the additional cost ($9000). We have until the end of today to make the decision. Anyone think we should go for it? I would appreciate any feedback from anyone that might be familiar with the program…or anyone for that matter. I just can’t help but think that getting one would be more beneficial. :help :help :help
Basically just about everyone here will tell you no. In fact, if you can cancel what you purchased and get your money would be a good idea.
If you have the patience and drive to succeed in this business, then you will. The information is available online for free, or very cheap on ebay.
STOP!!!
PUT DOWN THE PEN, AND STEP AWAY FROM THE CHECK BOOK!
We get these questions here ALL the time. YOU ARE BEING RIPPED OFF!!
I can not believe intelligent people fall for this crap over and over again.
Take your $9000 and USE IT to buy your first property.
Go to your local REI club and ask THEM questions OR US!!! WE’LL ACTUALLY GIVE YOU ANSWERS, and not try to UPSELL you to the “next level where you’ll learn the SECRET”
I’m not trying to give you a hard time here. I glad you took the time to post this question. Read every one of the posts that follow mine. It’s not just me, your gonna get the same answer from a lot of us here.
Real Estate investing is economics at it’s very core. You buy a home for $50,000 that, with $10,000 worth of work, will be worth $100,000. There are NO TRICKS to learning this business. You learn it by DOING IT! Whatever you spent for Rich Dad is already TOO much. If you can get out of it or stop payment on any large checks you have written DO IT!!
Why not post a question here like this…???
New investor wants to buy first property, what it the best way to start???
You’ll get more REAL information from a post like that than you will by buying The Super Deluxe, 1st class, gold club, executive suite, power returns boot camp, super pro seminar from Rich Dad.
You might want to do a little digging into ole Rich Daddy himself. HE SELLS BOOKS, not real estate. A few years back a national newspaper actually looked into his “vast real estate holdings” and found them to be VERY SMALL ( just one property if I remember right) For someone who promotes themself as a “real estate millionaire” He’s more like a real estate millionaire DREAM seller.
I agree. There’s no way you should spend $9000 on advice that is given out for free. You can spend about $120 and purchase all the “Rich Dad” books. They’re decent books for the price. They don’t give you a roadmap or specific advice. I suspect you’ll get the same product for a lo tmore money at the seminars. Investing in you financial education is great. Just invest wisely. I’ve read the Rich Dad books. Not bad for the price. Here’s my suggestion.
Read " The Millionare Real Estate Investor" by Gary Keller ($25). It explains REI concepts well and provides models devolped via interviews from over 100 Millionare Real Estate Investors. These models will give you a basis for starting in RE. You can also buy the Carlton Sheets Program on ebay for about $40 - $60. I just got it and it’s decent for the price. If you add all this up up, it’s just over $200. You’ll get more info that way than continually trying to “upgrade” to the next level of eductaion/ mentor for a ton of money. Don’t spend any more money on seminars or mentors. Try to recoup whatever money you can ( good luck) and step back educate yourself for less. Good luck, and next time come here and ask before putting your money up. You’ll get honest advice from people with no motives to sell you anything. :beer
We took the opportunity to "invest in our education" and enroll in their advanced training.
How much do you want to bet that once you get in the advanced training, they will explain that the “SECRET” to success will be divulged at the next (more expensive) level?
You want to know what’s funny? THERE IS NO SECRET!
Good Luck,
Mike
Now you’ve gone and done it, Mike, you’ve given away the secret!
Keith
Dang it, now what are we gonna do Keith? Now all the deals will be gone, thanks Mike we appreciate that. I was going to try and sell a million books with that secret. :deal
crpell,
On a more serious note, SAVE YOUR MONEY, if you give it to them here’s what you’ll be actually doing with it, it will be going straight down the :flush
I started with NOTHING in late 2005 and have done great since. Do what I did and what most others have done. Read a few books and A LOT more on this forum. A lot of good info here, right at your finger tips for FREE
thanks Mike we appreciate that. I was going to try and sell a million books with that secret.
Sorry guys, I’m not good with secrets - especially with “secrets” that don’t exist.
Mike
But wait a minute, the Guru’s say there are all kinds of secrets. :shocked
Dang, I’m so confused, I guess I’ll go buy another seminar and try to figure it all out.
You came to what is popularly regarded as the best free portal anywhere on the web for information on real estate investing…I say stick around.
The thing about Kiyosaki’s programs that no one else mentioned is that it’s his name that’s selling but in a quiet backroom deal it’s not his staff that does the fulfillment/training anyway…it’s Russ Whitney’s people
And Russ Whitney does not have a confidence-inspiring reputation heree or anywhere else.
I think you’ll find a better use for that 9 grand in investing…
I suggest you find someone in your local REIA (real estate investment association) to shadow as you learn the business. There are a few educational products, books, seminars that cover things start to finish but they are few and far between.
My brother and sister in law just spent 11k on the Dolf Deroos (rich dad) coaching program. Now they refer to it as a subject they just don’t talk about.
Everyone thinks because the guru’s tell them they know something everyone else does that it is all going to be easy. There is big money in Real Estate…but easy money…think again.
Please dont waste your money!!! Listen to some of these guys on here, they have been there and done that. When everything is said and done you would of realized that the imformation you needed you could of aquired for VERY little. I whole heartedly recommend you do three things: Buy a gem of a book called “buy it, Fix it and Sell it” by Kevin C. Myers( 19.99 at barnes & nobles). Secondly, an online course which will open your eyes to the way you should really and efficiently go about your real estate business. Also touches upon OPM, called “Bluejean Millionaire”. Goes for about $99.00 ( worth every penny) . And thirdly, invest in a very effective (to the point) course which thouroughly goes over how to get private money ( not hard money). This is a gold mine. Instrumental when making offers and able to close quickly with all cash. This courser is by Alan Cowgill. I recommend the PRIVATE LENDING ADVANCED. You can actually get it on ebay for around 350.00. On his web site it goes for close to 1K. There are a ton of people, with a lot of money out there, recieveing a pathetic 2-3% retun on there cd’s. Its not a “hard sell” to show them how they can get a 12% return secured by a piece of real estate worth more than there investment.
These three things will surely put you in the right direction.
Good Luck!
