My name is Will and I’m looking to start investing in Tax Lien Certificates. I’ve contacted a few tax collector’s office in New Jersey, Union county and most say that they don’t sell tax lien certificates. Am I asking the correct questions? I’m looking to learn so if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it! I’ve purchased some books, such as Make Money in Real Estate Tax Liens by Chantal Howell/Bill Carey. It’s very interesting so far, but I’m looking to to get some insider information. Thanks all!
Hi Will,
If you want to invest in Tax lien certificates, 2 places you will need to check, at least in FLorida they are called: Tax Collectors Office and Property Appraisers Office. New Jersey may have a differnt name. Try to google the offcies in NJ. Check their website for information. You can always ask them once you get their numbers Generally its the tax collectors office that handles the liens. One more thing, due to my busy schedule I never attend auctions but buy them over the counter. There are a lot of infomercial sites, like Ted Thomas and the like. But they ask for too much money and too little infomration. I found a good resource, who used to have at least 8 differnet books on tax lien investing. John Beck. Try his website. Gathering from your post, i think you might be a novice. I have investied in tax certificates by getting the list from arizona counties, you need to pay for that. Certain florida counties you dont need to. Perform your due diligence before you buy…
Kikaider69 - thanks for the information! I called a few tax collectors yesterday in NJ, most of which only deal in auctions and have no over the counter lien sales. I’ll check out the sites you recommended.
Thanks again!
