Need Help at the Courthouse

Hey all,

Just finally broke down and went into the courthouse. They have public PCs to look stuff up on. You HAVE to search by either a specific day or persons name, so what I did was try and find the little code for divorce and forclosure filings by searching every day of the month until hopefully one popped up.
These are examples of the codes

WAR = warranty deed
MORT = Mortgage
ASSIGN = assignment

However those were the only three that ever popped up, except for the occasional sewer lien or trust ot power of attorney.

Anyone have any idea where lese these might be located? The only other place open to the public to go in and mess around is the assessors office, but their stuff is available online and its not there.

By the way, I am in Bloomington Indiana if that helps.

Thanks for the help!

You are not the first to go look. and it is a good education. Now go back and ask a clerk how to look NOD’s up, write it down, go home and do it. Then call two of your local Title co’s and have them send the same list of NOD’s to you, no charge of course. They do this as a free service because they want your business. Now after you leave the court house go to Title co’s and ask them what they do and what sevices they provide to investors.
Go now. Report back to us all by tomorrow AM,. Thank you,
D.

Ok will do. But a couple more questions. Why would I go home to look up the NODs? I have to do it there dont I? Maybe Im misreading…

Why would I want to get a copy of what I just looked up from a title co?

Not trying to be sarcastic, I think there is something I am missing.

Thanks so much!

Edit: Weee this is exciting!

I havent had a good experience with this…

In philadelphia I went to city hall,found the room where the NOD are kept and was told its $125 for the list and it comes out every Monday. Then I went online and printed up the title companies in my area and called atleast 20 title co. to ask for the list and everyone of them responded like I was crazy and said no. Some did even know what it was. If there is another way please let me know.

Why would you look them up and then get the TC to give you the same list? Knowledge. So you know what you are looking for. Once you know what you are looking for, then you can take the short cut and get the list. If they charge you for the list, then pay it. You have to ask yourself how much do you want to make an hour. If you are cool with making 8.00/hr doing the tedious research, then have at it. But you would at least get free meals if you went to work at McDonald’s and made the same 8.00. Just my opinion.

Enjoi,
Brandon nailed it. Knowledge ! And I’m guessing its more comfy at your home than the court house.
