I know this is a way old thread, but I recently found out that the MLS system in my area, Tidewater, Virginia is the only multiple listing service in the United States that is not affiliated with the National Association of Realtors – again, it’s the ONLY listing service that is privately owned in the country.
I just found this out. That explains why there was some confusion from Wendy and others as to how my earlier statements (that you didn’t have to be a Realtor in order to use the MLS) could be accurate.
