Michigan newbie here

I’d love to get involved with some folks in the metro Detroit area who are into flipping properties. Does anyone here live in the area and belong to an investment club that you could turn me on to?

Thanks!

Hello I am also a Michigan Newbie. I’ve been spending the past few weeks reading all information I can get my hands on before I acutally start dealing with getting actual properties. The only thing that gives me considerable pause is the current state of the economy here in Michigan. It seems that there are an abudance of properties here in michigan, but being able to feel this properties with paying tenants seems like it might be a struggle.

I’m holding off joining an REI Club until I’m more comfortable in my own knowledge. Lucky for me I have real estate agent who is helping me along the way.

shantel,

I wouldn’t hold off joining an REI Club until you’re more comfortable in your own knowledge, I would join immediately to start developing that knowledge!

Don’t get me wrong I do plan to join a REI Club but initially its just an expense that I want to hold off on until I learn more about the whole real estate process. My boyfriends, brother whose a very successful real estate investor never took the route of joining an REI club. I feel like once I learn something about real estate investing and how it works then I will know what it is I’m looking for in an REI club.

We’ll you’ve got a good source in your boyfriends brother. If he is doing well why not shadow what he’s doing? Start buttering him up with pizza and beer. he may have some basic books and info to get you going.

Hi Lodger,

I am also a newbie, brand spankin’ new, in fact. I’m not sure where you’re located but I attended my first REI club meeting last month and the next is coming up on 11/8. E-mail me and I’ll fill you in if you’d like!

Hi, I’m also from Michigan and I was also wondering what’s a good REI club to join next year when money will be flowing better for me. In the mean while I’m also reading and studying as much information on REI as I can. The library has everything, but which of the many REI clubs in the Detroit area is the best to join.

Hi Brandy,

I’ve only gone to a few meetings so far, but the New Real Estate Investors in Novi is where my partner and I attend. The first meeting is free, and the dues after that are $120/year … but you are allowed to pay $20 per meeting if that’s easier. E-mail me and I’ll get you all the info including contact names, website, etc.

Detroit newbie. close to closing first wholesale deal. pls call neighbor. email me for ph#.

JimmyD you wouldn’t happen to mean Wealthbuilders?

There is a link In the “Site Information” Section call Links to REIClubs.
It had a lot of clubs in there including a REIA i used to attend in NC.

Nope, I wasn’t referring to “Wealth Builders”. They may be good as well but I never had any success trying to get any info from them. New Real Estate Investors, on the other hand, responded immediately.

Not a knock on Wealth Builders, I’m sure they’re a fine organization too but just stating facts.

p.s. I’m aware of the link, just giving personal referral.

pls give me more info on New Real Estate Investor club. i am looking for a good reia.

I see we have many faithful Michigan Investors just starting out.

Drop me an Email all of you that are interested in the Detroit area. I’d like to expand out of Detroit one day but I’ve lived her for 25 years and it’s the only market I know pretty well.

Thanks allot.
