Hey,
I do not believe it is an “OR” situation. I use a multiple mailing campaign that uses BOTH postcards and letters in various formats. Contrary to most, it seems, my best response has come off postcards.
Peace,
Richard
Great thank you,
I am thinking that I will get some post cards made. At first I might send a letter and then I will mail a second time with a postcard. I have even been told about placing sticky notes on the front door of a house that you are targeting. I am starting to see that the best way is to hit a prospect with multiple marketing strategies. Thanks
I like sending a letter to an out of town owner. And I’ll use a postcard for local owners. To be honest, with prefcs I don’t think there is much of a difference, one over the other. But with prefcs, you have to realize that they are being bombarded with mail and post cards don’t have to be opened to be read. Of course you risk offending the owner by mentioning fc and letting the whole world (in their mind) know about their situation.
Someone told me once, if you are behind on your bills are you going to even look at your mail? You, know? When I was doing them, the phone was also important. As well as door knocking. Unfortunately, it was a very low percentage game because of the 7 options to avoid selling while in prefc. And I was heading a large organization devoted solely to prefcs.
So now, I just target those trying to sell. It’s such a simple idea, but at least you know they are interested in selling! I’m not spinning my wheels anywhere near as much. I guess the idea is too simple for most. But it works for me.
Postcards have a cheaper postage rate, don’t have to be opened for the homeowner to read, and are cheaper to buy. However, they fall out of the stack of mail when the mail person is delivering it so sometimes it isn’t delivered. It also falls out when the homeowner is carrying it from the mailbox. Sometimes the homeowner lumps it in with ads (the ones saying this person is missing on one side).
Letters can give you more room to get your message. Don’t fall all over. But they sometimes aren’t opened, are more expesive because of paper and envelope let alone the postage.
Yet on letters, if you hand address them, they get opened more.
So, with the pro’s and cons of both, why not use both to eliminate them. Rotate letter, postcard, etc
