great information. I look forward to going to the boot camp this spring

I’m wondering if these “boot camps” are all scams. I have yet to hear of a full-time investor who did anything but waste money at bootcamps. Hands down, they always provide the same information, tools, and resources that this website or local investment groups can provide.

If the information is so great, they can publish a book. Rick Villani in Austin was profiled in the Millionaire investor book. He recently wrote a book called, Flip, which outlines his systems for rehabbing. All of the investors here know that he’s not a scam because he does REI every day and seemed to have a good system. Later, he franchised. Now, he wrote a book. He never did a “bootcamp” and charged thousands of dollars.

My local club does classes for $50-100, I’m probably going to go to a few. If anyone has an offer like that in their area it could certainly be a better idea. Not only is the club LOCAL (as in they know YOUR market) they are also not out to scam you, just to help fellow club members.

I have flipped houses for 6 years and have had fun doing it. The difficult part in flipping houses are finding the deals. I have been able to make 20k on average but I wanted to find a way to find more deals. Flipping houses is realatively easy and doesn’t take much knowledge. With the short sale process it is much more involved but more deals are available. I wouldn’t pay much for learning to flip houses but with something as technical as short sale negotiations I think it would be crazy to try to learn it by trial and error. If your having trouble buying food for your family I don’t think a bootcamp is a good idea either. But 1500 bucks isn’t that big of a deal for someone that has made good money on real estate and owns a satellite, internet, and phone service company.
