Location of yard signs without paying temporary land rent

Hello,

I’m going to put out yard signs. (I know I need to check for ordinances to see if it is legal.) I know I’ll lose at least 10% of my signs each weekend.

Where do people put out yard signs without the owner of the property taking them out or not paying the owner any temporary land rent.

If you just put them on public property could you explain this and give some examples of where people could and do place the signs.

Putting the signs on public property sounds like a bigger city thing, am I wrong? Does sign placement differ in small towns and strictly country and wooded areas?

Thank you, I’d like to know all about where people place signs in the different areas.

when I put them out, I always put them in public property. You’re always going to take the chance of someone taking them up, either by the city or someone that thinks they have to do what ever they can to keep the town looking pretty. as far as where they can be put is really up to your town ordinances like you said. Just don’t put them in private properties without the owners consent. Don’t over saturate one town with signs either, you can get in the city’s bad side. If you are puting them over the weekend, that’s better I think. You’ll get better as you go when deciding where to put them, try a few and see where they are staying up and where they are not. Good luck and becareful with the trafic lol.

The cities around here supposedly will “fine” you for putting signs out, but people do it by the ton anyway. I think as long as your sign is at any intersection, on a telephone pole or on public property – you’d probably be OK.

We have our signs put out on thursday or friday night and they are usually put out on public land. we usually have 80% removed within a week on an urban area and in a rural setting, we have soe that have been in place for years. Its really a trial and error thing. `good luck

Anyone here ever get fined due to signs?

I have never been fined.
But I do know more than 10% will be taken down lol…

But like the guy above said at least a few out to the bunch some how seem to make it WAY longer than others…

I don’t mind losing a few, its getting fined per sign that scares me. I hope they don’t do that in my area…though it would explain why I don’t see too many bandits.

if you ever get a call from the city like I did 3 times, they usually just want to let you know that it is not allowed. just tell them that you are in the wrong and that you would pick them up. Don’t put them on light poles, they told me that is one reason that they don’t allow them cause it’s dangerous for the workers climbing the poles with nails and stuff. they’ll probably will take you to court if you get them calling you more than twice. Try to do a different town each time you put them out and try to do it over the weekend, picking them up on sundays. Don’t over saturate each town either. Good luck and God bless.

you can also use an 800 number on your signs that is forwarded to your phone. some companies make it impossible to track down who is behind the number. so when the cops call you, they just tell you “take your sign down”, but they don’t know your name…
