After being unemployed for almost 2 years I’ve been offered a position as a strip mall manager. I need to do exceeding well at this job because I am broke and being over 50 it’s to difficult to find work these days. I will be asking one more favor on another post under VanDyne.
I’m looking for a mentor or team of experts, who have turned around a strip mall (old factory outlet malls), to help with advice and to help me through road blocks.
I would first like to know a little about you and your knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. Second, give me an overview about your successful strip mall turn around. I would like to get more detailed later.
I’ve done a lot of pre-industry work preparing for this turn around project. I believe I’ve identified many of the reason why so many of the outlet strip malls have gone broke outside the bad economy. I believe I’ll be heading in the right direction.
The strip mall is in the midwest, 250K sf in a rural community. Area population is around 25K. This mall has had 2 other attempts at a turn around and all failed. I’ve completed a lot of ground work. That’s all I’ll share for confidentiality reasons. I don’t want you to solve of all my problems just want to match up my initial steps with someone who has already done it.
About me: I have several decades of managment experience in multiple industries. I’ve held positions in retail from supervisor to store manager. I have held positions in the retail corporate office upper level manager to executive positions responsible for 300 associates and 15 reporting managers. For over a year I was a real estate Procesing Manager for a residential developer who also owned a real estate office.
We can exchange ideas on this post initially, then provide personal/business contact information so we can communicate directly.
I look forward to your comments.
